Would be awesome if it was a castle nut + cotter pin.
That is a good idea too, not like I am going to try to pull it out in one piece again.

Well, if you just peen one of the threads it'll lock that nut in place, but if you ever want to remove the nut you just have to force it back over that one thread. So once you get past that one thread it still spins off nice and easy, and since you're just folding that one spot on one thread over, when you back the nut off over it the threads on the nut realign that thread that you peened on the bolt.

Morning y'all! Driving home last night at 6ish on rt 2 was an adventure! My wipers did nothing on the highest setting, there was just too much rain.

Made it home just fine though, thank god.

Rain-x is a godsend for weather like that. I discovered it in High School and I'll never drive another vehicle without it again.

Yeah I've got rain-x windshield washer fluid and rain-x latitude wipers. They help, but with the noah's ark type rain I was driving through last night there wasn't much of an effect.

Plus, half of rt 2 was partially flooded, so I was very happy I had lifted the truck!

The washer fluid is good for keeping a rain-x coat refreshed, but applying the 100% mix directly to the windshield is like night and day. Obviously in a super heavy downpour there's only so much you can do, but I apply the 100% stuff twice a year and I almost never even have to turn my wipers on while I'm driving. It really is amazing stuff.

It also has the high strength red locktite in the threads of the UCA bolt. I'm just not a fan of peening threads, I've had to fix too many (thread files, thread lapping, single point chasing on the engine lathe, dye use) and the only thing to get in there is a half inch breaker bar or long ratchet. If I could get an impact on it then sure, but I personally wouldn't go that route

Good to know! Thanks for the heads up. I'll pick up some of this and slap it on.

I use that a few times a year, too. It's insane how well it works. Rain just beads up immediately and blows off the windshield.

Hell yeah! I was driving in that same storm and had my wipers on low, rain just ran off. It was raining way to fast for the wipers to keep up but the hydrophobic Rain-X coating works wonders.
That's the stuff. What's interesting though is, read the bottle and it says for interior use... I've been using it on my windshield and mirrors for a long time now. It's huge for the mirrors, they used to mist up and make it hard to see anything out of. The Rain-X works wonders for that.

Meh. In my experience with peening a single thread, a breaker bar and some P'Blaster is more than enough to back the nut off. But, different strokes for different folks. :notsure:

I had never been on Route 2 on the eastern side of the state. First time I drove it I was very confused. It's nothing like that out here. It's two lane, no divider, and climbs up over mountains and follows rivers here.

Yeah Rt2 on the western side of MA is a whole different animal. Have to say though Rt9 is an awesome roller coaster ride through MA/VT/NH

Driven that a few times, it's a nice road. I live pretty close to there so when I go up to the White Mountains I'll take it into Brattleboro to get on 91.

Though VT 9 and MA 9 aren't the same thing. MA 9 is further south and doesn't go up to VT or NH.
