My gauge constantly reads way below E yet my low fuel light works like it always has...
I'm grateful that it tells me I have a few gallons left. Is my sender shot?
    Thanks for the help.

    Sounds like your fuel sender.

Could be the sender. Could be the receiver. There are resistance checks in the repair manual to test each. Could be a loose screw on the back of the cluster preventing a good electrical connection. Could be a rusted/loose wire at the sender. Could be the needle got stuck at E and a nudge might loosen it up.

You're just going to have to take the cluster out and inspect.

Thanks everyone. I plan on pulling the box off and inspecting the tank and hoses itself seeing as I've had an evap code for months.

It should come apart pretty easy seeing as the frame just got replaced.

I'll check the wiring to the sender first, then proceed to the cluster if needed.
    Thx

Please report back. My fuel gauge needle is getting wonky too.

@Star-Lord imparted his wisdom on me awhile ago saying that the ethanol now found in gasoline (thanks Big Ag!) wreaks havoc on the sending unit and other sensors etc in the tank.

This is what my fuel sender connector looked like when I pulled it out of the tank.

That one pin/wire was burnt and caused my gauge to eventually never move from E. I replaced that section of wire and it fixed the problem.

I love it when you get an electrical problem that presents an obvious solution...

I mean, I don't like getting electrical problems, but at least when you do, it's nice to have an obvious solution.

My buddy had the same issue on his 4Runner. It was the electrical connector on the fuel sender, it was burnt.
