The difference between the two is about 10 ms. For some reason the video didn't capture it but the fast setting is much more rapid in person.

The difference is much more apparent in person, the phone camera didn't capture it very well.

Can't speak for that flasher but mine is made in the USA and I personally back my product.

Will this work on other vehicles, or is it specific for the Tacoma? I'd be interested in installing one on my Legacy.

Not sure if it's been mentioned. If you have a 3rd gen and the bed light package, I believe you have to remove the headliner to access the 3rd brake light wires. Toyota completely removed the exterior screws to pop off the cover.

It's under the drivers side floor panel trim.

Flasher installation instructions for 2007-2017 Tacomas

    Tools required:
    Wire cutters and crimping tool
    Flathead screwdriver

    Optional:
    Razor blade

    Included for installation:
    (1) Male bullet connector
    (1) Female bullet connector
    (1) 3M T-Tap

    Wiring color code:
Positive Lead - Violet (Prior to 2016, positive is blue)
    Ground Wire - White/Black
Some models may not have a white/black ground, in this case, use the thin gray wire in the same harness

To access the wiring for the third brake light, you will need to remove the running board floor trim on the drivers side. For 4 doors, open the back door and find the rubbing board trim. Pictures are from installation on an access cab but same principles apply. If you have a 4-door, remove the trim piece by gently prying from back to front, slowly un-snapping the plastic.

For access cab models, you also have to remove the front trim piece before you can remove the back running board trim.

Both removed exposes the wiring harness.

To get access to the wiring harness, un-do the plastic snap clip holding the wiring harness into the channel. You want to un-do the second furthest from the back, may be different on 4 doors. Use a flathead screwdriver to release the clip.

From here, you'll want to use your flathead screwdriver or optional razor blade to peel back the tape where the wire loom wrap meets on the underside, to expose the wire. To make it easier for me, I cut out about a 5" section of the wire loom to allow me space to cut/crimp wiring and connectors.

Find your ground wire (white/black or gray on some models) and install the provided 3M T-Tap connector. With the connector open, you want to feed the ground wire into the space facing you, ensure it gets in well. Use pliers to ensure good connection and close.

Find your positive lead wire (violet) and cut somewhere in the middle. Strip both ends to install the provided connectors. Female connector goes on the front end of the wire, male connector goes to the back end of the wire.

Connect flasher module into the newly added connectors. The red wire from the flasher goes to the front end of the violet wire, yellow goes to the back end, black flasher wire spade connects into your T-Tap at the ground wire. Tuck into channel, re-engage snap clip.

Test flasher operation before re-assembly. To change flasher speed, either connect or disconnect the blue/white wire on the flasher unit. Blue/white connected is fast, disconnected is slow.

Removal instructions to go back to stock: Disconnect all wires from flasher to vehicle wiring, re-connect both ends of violet power wire using the included bullet connectors from the installation process.

    Troubleshooting Guide

No brake light operation: There is a possibility that the 3rd brake light bulb could be burned out. Verify working operation before installing. 10% to 20% of vehicles may have a burned out bulb.

No power to flasher: Ensure all connectors are secure and that crimps on added connectors are solid. Also ensure that the exposed wire is crimped into the connector and not the wiring insulation.

Flasher not grounded: Did the male spade that goes into the T-Tap connect right? Ensure the tab isn't bent inside connector.

Brake light comes on but doesn't flash: The flasher will enter a fail-safe mode if no longer working or if module is wired backwards. Remember that the red wire of the flasher goes to the front or engine end of the violet wire and yellow wire goes to the back back or brake light end of the violet wire. Also ensure you did not connect power wires to the ground wires by mistake. In rare cases, the module itself could be physically damaged during shipping.

Anything yet? I also didn't get a pm for interest. I'm interested in purchasing as long as I can get it as fast flash on braking and then solid when stopped. Thanks

I can get you a fast flashing one no problem, but it will only flash 4 times before going solid.

So it's a no on getting one that flashes then goes solid when fully stopped? I haven't seen an actual picture of the device, is it programmable?

Unfortunately the only thing that's programmable is the speed, not the actual function of how many flashes until solid.

I'm still looking into it so it may still be an option.

So it's only timed to flash 4 times and then solid?
