    Glad you screenshot it! Now if anyone asks, I'm just going to tell them to PM you so I don't have to type it again :rofl:.

    It is but one of MANY ways to get it done. I've cooked a brisket like that countless times, but I think the method is still easy enough to follow for a first timer.

    Just know going in to it that brisket is a fickle SOB. My method is in that earlier screenshot, but the main advice I'd give you is to give yourself PLENTY of time. You can rest a brisket in a cooler that remains shut for hours on end, so you can't finish it too early. You can, however, find yourself in a rush to serve at a certain time and ruin 10 hours of work in 30 minutes of haste (i.e. not resting it or pulling too early).

    If I were restricted to one wood for the rest of my BBQ days, it'd be pecan. Love that stuff.

    I can see this, as a beginner, I've done two briskets, one took 12 hours, one took 13. Whether you smoke it the entire time, crutch it, or smoke, then oven, make sure you take it to about 205.

    6 should be enough time for dinner. Even at a rate of 1.5 hours per trimmed pound.

    I think crutch with some sort of juice/bourbon whatever is best for just a flat... like i said, much harder to not dry out than a full packer

    Gonna be my first time trying brisket. No membership, but I weaseled my way in to Costco with somebody in the parking lot to be able to get this.

    Hopefully I can make this fit in the WSM 14 and not sure if I want to start it tonight since I have the day off tomorrow. Would be nice to have for a late breakfast.

    Definitely. Stater Bros., the best local chain large grocery store, has select for $5.99/lb.

    Buying 4-5 of these a year already pays for the Costco membership, so I no longer have to sneak in.
