That 10 pounder most likely won't fit unless you hang it... I always get like an 11 or 12 pounder and my 18.5 is maxed out with that.

I just looked up what a Weber wsm was. I was thinking it was one of the kettle type grills he was smoking on. That makes a lot more sense now. lol

Good part about that is you'll be able to leave the point in longer, much more fat in the grain to render. Bad part is it's easy to screw up a flat.

Yeah, there'll be no hanging in a Weber kettle. Also look up UDS, ugly drum smoker. @bvbull200 's bbq biz uses variations of these exclusively.

I have a bourbon barrel I can sell you for a decent price! Came from the Rahr brewery and was used to make their Bourbon Barrel Aged Ale (or is it Lager?).

Then I want you to make one and tell me everything you liked and everything you'd do different so I can make one too :D.

Happen to be near Austin TX?... It'd have to be primarily cold smoking for obvious reasons, but have read some success stories of 200-225 smokes. I researched the crap outta them on smoking meat forums a while back but couldn't ever find a cheap enough barrel around here to play with. I did find an old 50's fridge that will someday be converted to a smoker as well. That is a way back burner project right now though.

I'm in Fort Worth, but my sister lives down that way, so getting it to you may not be fast, but it wouldn't be out of the question, either.

I have a second one that stays in the house to display a fine bottle of hooch ;).

Well you're google suggestion led me to UDS and then on to a lump coal ratings site and now I'm kind of enjoying reading the reviews on different coals. :goingcrazy:

Sounds good. I've had the barrel for a while. Mom bought it because she thought she wanted it, but hasn't done anything with it. I'm sure she'd let it go for whatever she paid for it. Worst case, I'll check back with Rahr and see if they have any more.

    Keep me posted.
