I didn't bring mine with me, but we already had the skids off and were eager to try it out so I borrowed a buddies set of allens. It would of been fine if the bolt had been removed before, but for the first time it would be impossible to safely remove the bolt without messing things up.

Yeah my plug was on there pretty damn good too. I was worried I was going to round it out, but luckily it snapped free.

I'd let that PB Blaster soak in for a few days before attempting to remove the plug, especially on an older truck.

Yeppers! Only do this when the diff is cool, but wipe it down with whatever cleaning agent you want to use, let it dry, then tape around the diff and anywhere else you don't want paint. I surrounded the diff with newspaper to grab any overspray. On mine I even taped over that white sticker on the diff. :D Then spray away. I used high temp red engine paint. Goes on nice and thick. I did 4-5 coats.

I'm debating on a black / desert tan theme...

so painting the headlight projector shrouds desert tan and the housings black....... doing desert tan American Flag decals, etc....

so maybe painting the diff cover desert tan :notsure:

Should look cool ... but do they even make a high temp paint in tan?

IMO (not like you asked for it) I don't think that'd look too good. Tan with black accents looks great, but the other way around would be questionable I think.

not sure.... just brainstorming right now...

all opinions welcome! I'm not the kind of person that only wants positive feedback!

I'm trying to Google pics of a black truck with some slight desert tan accents..... coming up empty so far....

looks good, but I think I'm covered on a rack! @Coot83 is going to sell me his once his new one gets here
