You would need the wiring harness to maintain the hi/low beam functions.

Went with the ddm tuning kit on head lights and fogs. The kit was cheap but I figured I would try it to see what the light out put of hid's would be and how long a cheap kit would last. I went with the 5000 on fogs and headlights. I liked the results of the fog light out put it was good. However, I did not care for the headlight output. There was no control of the light it was shooting everywhere. I noticed street lights going out sometimes when I would come up on them. I would say the headlight lenses are not designed for hids. After about 2 months I had my first failure. Ballast shorted out in one fog light. This caused my fog fuse to blow. Well then no fog lights. I figured it out quickly but I thought what if this happened to one of my headlights also. I would be stuck with no lights. Yes it is under warranty but typical warranty crap you have to send it back so they can verify what failed. I was not interested in another cheap light system I found out all I needed to know. I ended up going back to halogens PIAA intense white for fogs and headlights. To me a product that works for a decent amount of time with no warranty is better then a product that fails and is under warranty. My advice would be if you still want an HID kit go with top brand and buy from a local store so that you can just take it back if it fails and they replace the part right then and there. Buy a light bar and install some real hid lights and wire them to your high beams, such as Lightforce.
    Later, Cam-shaft.

Well naturally halogen headlight housings aren't going to be made for HID's. Some vehicles don't have bad glare/light scattering and some do. As far as buying local, I know no places sell HID kits around here, don't know about elsewhere. I'd rather just take my chances with a cheap kit under 100 bucks with a warranty than spend hundreds of dollars for something else. I had a cheap kit in my previous vehicle that worked fine for the 2 years I had it and now another owner is using it with no problems. No real big name brands make HID kits, although the expensive kits usually use a brand name ballast, such as Philips, or Bosch. However neither of those companies actually make HID kits for resale, the companies that sell them just get those ballasts, throw in their own bulbs and stuff and sell it as a kit. Just depends if you want to spend $300-$400 to have your ballasts say Philips, or pay maybe $80 and even still have a warranty and know that even if you didn't you could still buy several kits for the price it cost for one kit that uses a brand name ballast.

Just bought some 35W, H10, 6000K from DDM yesterday. $62 shipped to my house. These will be for my fogs...looking forward to it as they are my first HID experience.

There is no such thing as a "top brand" for HIDs. Unless, you go with an OEM brand like Philips, Osram, Hella, etc. But, unfortunately none of those manufacturers make a PnP HID kit. The ones that they sell to you at the shops are even LOWER in quality. There is no sense in buying those $300 kits. You are an idiot if anyone thinks that paying more for a PnP kit means higher quality.

    Pretty much stock
you can get the slim's or you can get the raptors, i just installed the raptor kit today in my truck.
    for headlights you need H4's
    for foglights you need H10's

You can run 35watt or 55watt. I just took a 55 watt kit out of my truck that was not a DDM kit and the bulbs got so hot they actually dulled the top of my headlight above the bulb where the heat had risen.

My raptor kit is a 35watt. You have to use a 35watt in your foglights, the 55watt puts out to much head for them.

If you want a white color, get 4500 or 5000k temp. the higher you go, the blue'er the light, and therefore the less light output.
