Does ANYONE have anything good to say about the RC 740.20 2.5" spacer lift? ANYONE??? For my use and circumstances it's difficult to justify $800+ MINIMUM in 2.5" lift components.

I hear ya'. However, being/not being "fond of" and having an actual "real world opinion " are two different things.

It's a cheap lift with cheap components. Save your money and put it into something that won't fall apart.

I have it on my double cab and I honestly like it but its really stiff now but who cares, a majority of lifts create a stiff ride. I upgraded to some toytec coilovers just because I plan on adding some weight to the front end. I say go for it, its a decent lift and it gets the job done.

Also, I've been running it for 2 years the rear shocks and all the components are holding up just fine. If you dont mind me asking, what do you plan on trying to achieve with a lift?

I can't speak for that specific application but I have a rough country 6" on my 2013 and I love it. Been on for 25,000 miles now and no issues... rides better that the toy tech 3" that I used to have on my truck.. all the components are solid and well built.

IMO for the lift you are looking at you should be fine... it Has a Solid CNC spacer which I think would be way better than some of those welded ones with the flanges and I have no complaints with the rough country shocks. as for the lift shackles they are what they are lol. it's a very simple application. Don't waste your money paying for a "better" name

Yeah I do, but I'm gentle on my truck since its a prerunner. I am currently gathering parts to do a 4x4 conversion so the gentleness will change very quickly.

If you really have to go with the spacer route I would recommend toytecs because it has add a leaf. I hate the shackles that rough country offers since my leafs sag like hell just like every other stock Tacoma. The AAL will help with the sagging. If you do go with the toytec route, make sure you get the diff drop kit because you have Automatic Disconnecting Diff and if you avoid the diff drop kit it will advance the wear on your CV's. I'm pretty sure you need them even if you get the RC 2.5 but I could be wrong.

I'm not rough with it at all. Mostly hwy driven and pulling my trailer/ATV to hunting camp a few months of the year. Very few rough roads. Mostly use the ATV for those.

I dont think a shackle lifts are good for hauling, even that low of weight but i could be wrong. I still think the toytec is a better option since it has the add a leaf. That is the only reason im saying that. Its better for hauling, smoother ride quality, and gives your stock leaf springs less sag plus its only 365.

I couldn't tell you but it's been up since 2010 so I'm guessing it's going to be there until zombies take over.

It's a spacer lift, that's why you won't find much love for it here. 5100s aren't that expensive and you can use those with your stock springs and an AAL for the rear for under $500 if you want an inexpensive suspension lift.

    What?

Bilstein 5100's $299 (downsouthmotorsports has them with a TW member discount for 299, or at least that was the price I paid a few years back)
1.5" AAL in the back $80 (wheelersoffroad)
Longer shackles (for an extra 1") $75 (wheelersoffroad)
    Extended brake line $30 (wheelersoffroad)

    $484 plus tax and shipping...

    Basically this.

It's not that the Rough country kit is 'bad' (I've never personally tried it so I don't know), it's the fact that the Bilstein kit exists and can be had so reasonably.

Especially if your truck has a few miles on it (most 1st gens do), it's safe to assume that you could benefit from new front shocks, and your leafsprings are probably starting to sag, so it makes sense to at least do Bilstein 5100 + AAL if you want some lift, and maybe put off the shackle/brake line for later if you absolutely need to keep the price down.
