The first vehicle I can remember being a part of was my dad's brand new '65 Chevy with a camper shell. He'd toss all of us in the back with the "camping gear" which was an army surplus tarp and a blanket and head for the mountains. He didn't have 4wd. He just depended on the technology of the shell to keep us from bouncing out when he revved it to get over a rock. Now in my lifetime I'll probably to get to see a completely self driving car. And wait for the country song about how some guys truck up and left him. You know that's coming.

I've used it many times, buried it into the red a few times on some trails. Adds to the thrill when going through technical spots.

My 4X4 SR5 didn't come with that and i thought it was neat and dam I should have waited for an OR LB in white as i can always get a better aftermarket locker but not that!
So now I'm down to an app or a dash mount type. So gald some of you feel it's useles, makes me feel right somehow

    Cheers!

gotta say when my friend and i went up some crazy stuff yesterday with it just from curiosity. zero doubt it was far more efficient and gaining traction and ascending than a human can do. it's working 4 wheels independently. on descent it was extremely controlled the whole way down.

still wouldn't trade my MT but it was impressive.

The only thing I preferred was the vinyl floor but just wasn't ordered with the truck. I've got the highest towing package possible on top of having the 3.5eco which is pretty much made for towing lol It's the lithium grey supercrew, trailer brake control, pro backup assist, lane assist, forward avoidance (knows when someone is running a red light perpendicular to you and alerts you before any t bone can happen), last year of dual arm towing mirrors, electronic retractable and foldable along with downward foot lights and 45 degree ditch/spot lights built in, I could go on and on, it literally has everything except the vinyl floor and massaging seats in the platinum. I mean I live in the desert and I have heated foldable REAR seats, probably going to be used once or twice a year, that's it. And it doesn't stop pulling, the torque doesn't drop off until like 4800rpm, you can pass people with only 1/4 throttle.

How do you turn on this feature? Mine just shows a compass. Do you have to be in 4x4 hi or lo? I screwed with the buttons on the steering wheel through every screen I think, but don't seem to find this on my TRD OR. More a novelty but it would be fun to scare the kids.

It's less Tacoma and more mod
But it's a classic gimmick, old trucks used to have one and the land cruiser and Japanese 4 runners had them. Kinda neat, you can use the built in barometer as a new altimeter too

I would rather take an Altimeter over the inclinometer any day!

That was probably the only thing I didn't try. Thanks. Kind of like the 12:00 time constantly flashing on your grandmas VCR. Well, I just dated myself with that one. LOL

Nissan didn't get the memo on side airbag deployment. Buddy's side air bag went off when he was off road in his 201x (? year) frontier coming off a boulder. Apparently, scared the crap out of him. Like toyota, he was told it's not covered under warranty since he was off road. He asked what the pro 4x was for.

I also used it when I had my RTT. It was useful and effective. But +1 on the altimeter. At least it should be an on-screen display option for the nav system. I guess between the Texas and Michigan roots of these trucks no one on the design team thought about that.

So at what point is it considered not safe? Past 30 degrees?

But preceded by "Watch This" lol I would not want to imply you are drinking in driving so I did not go with " Hold My Beer , Check this Shit out"

On my TRDOR, the steering wheel right thumb keypad sequence is: Speedometer --> Compass --> Audio Source --> Warning (Push to OK) Inclinometer

First thing I thought of was the old Yodas with the dedicated cluster for this thing. I always coveted the trucks that had them. Now that I have a digital one in my truck, it rarely gets used.
