Okay. My 2003 Tacoma TRD 4x4 Extra Cab has about 130,000 on it. I am looking to upgrade my stock sized tire to 265/75/16. My front suspension (coils/shocks are worn out).
I ordered a set of 5100 adjustable Bilsteins. I am looking to level the truck out. I have access to a new set of OEM coils.
What would be the adjustment to level truck out and fit the 265/75 tires. Remember, the front is kind of sagging downward.
Do I also need a spacer lift??? Anything on the rear other than the 5100s?

i was having the same problem with my stock suspension, I ended up putting the 5100's at 2.5 on the front and a 1.5" aal in the rear with the 5100's because my rear leafs were very worn out.
here is a pic with the lift installed

Ok bud. All tacomas with stock suspension have a rake to where the rear sits higher than the front. I have the adjustable 5100's upfront on mine set at 2.5" and the front end sits a lil higher than the rear now. So if you wanted to you could just set 'em at .85" to level which should cover 265 75's, Or just set at 2.5" if your planning on lifting the rear.

My truck had quite a bit of rake to start with and just a bit after using the 5100s set to the 1" lift setting. This picture was taken with a low gas tank. When full, it is very close to level. The front 1" lift is very subtle, but I noticed it quite a bit sitting inside. Also, the ride is much better. Firmer and more controlled, but not harsh.

that looks real good matt. i was thinking when i get mine is set it to 1.75 but after looking at yours i guess the front would be higher than the back then.

Ya, I debated about which setting to use, but it seemed like people that went to the higher lift setting also raised the back. I didn't mind the rake too much, but I didn't want the nose higher than the rear. Also, it seems like pre-compressing the spring more would make it too tight up front. I am very happy with the ride I have with the 1" setting and my stock springs (75K miles on the truck/springs).

yeah im going to play with the setting when i get them to see which one i like the most. i was thinking that liftin it to high such as 2.5 it may compress to much also, woulddnt that almost be doing what a spacer lift would do?

I am also looking to update my shocks as well as raise the front end possibly. Will these 5100s fit on a 99 tacoma prerunner?

i got the bilsteins 5100 on all four wheels the front set at 2.5 and a toytec AAL with a 1.5" block. sits very nicely, although ever since the lift I have had some problems with driveline vibration. I am sure it was there before but lifting it made it more noticeable. I am looking into getting some shims under the carrier bearing to remedy this.

What is this AAL people are talking about for the rear of their truck. Is that add a leaf? does that make the back stiffer or higher or both? and how much do they run for?

    Yes,
    wheelersoffraod.com also has AAL's.

You can also do a shackle lift.

Thanks for the link, As my truck sits now the back end is way too soft and they said it will raise the back two inches, but i am also trying to level out my truck in the front. will the 5100s fit with the AAl in the back? Or should I just stay away from lifting my truck at all cause I am just asking for more problems?

Yes, they will fit in the back. Don't get stuck on one lift. Look at all your options. Toytec makes the Ultimate lift ( ). It is a complete lift package with adjust 5100s in the front. These can be adjusted on the vehicle.

There is also the OME (Old Man Emu is ARB's suspension division) complete kit ( ). Lift is achieved through the spring size with OME. You have your choice of spring when ordering the kit.

Bottom line decide what you are going to do with the truck and the $ situation, then decide on the type of lift.

I think ive settled on just leveling out my truck and putting on some bigger all terrains. Is there any modifications or other parts that I would need to do in order to swap the 5100s for the stock bilstiens? if I am leveling out the front to 1.75.

How do you know if your leaf springs are worn out?
