Test drive

well just got done test driving a new trd off road. also a new crew tundra 4x4 off tss off road. Wife still don't like the seats in Tacoma the way they sink in back and tilt up and you cannot adjust. I have same issue but on this drive I felt fine although not great like tundra but like truck size better.

 

I believe the seating in the Tacoma you sat in today is basically the same (as in hardly changed) from the 2016 you previously owned and didn't like. Not sure why it maybe seemed different from before other than you previously had 650 miles per week to decide that you didn't like it... Doubt 15 miles tomorrow will reveal more than your test drive did on your 2016 before you bought it.

thanks. yeah I know. one issue at time when I had my Tacoma I had frozen shoulder and neck issues going on last year and half had got both fixed on both shoulders and u think that was a lot of it and now without that the seating position doesn't seem to hurt the neck and stuff. still I do notice the different position and no adjustments but don't think it be same due to issue I had. But you are correct but id still like to spend at least 20 minutes in it to see how I feel. forgot to mention that issue I had that I think was my real main issue and the truck with my issues at time I needed different position till I went and got it all fixed and through rehab for last year

As much as you drive, with your back and neck issues, you should consider this. Certainly for the Tacoma.

The seats are the same no worst no better op.
If it weren't for the quick turnaround i would recommend taking it to an upholstery shop and get you fitted proper.

I would therefore suggest you take a look at the Tundra dual cab which is smaller than the crew cab but still larger (unfortunately) than the taco, that is the route i would go if i was you.

And yeah, you'll have a hard time matching the solid quality, feel, durability and reliability of a Toyota in another vehicle its why I'm still driving them because they do drive me nuts sometimes with the lack of available features lol!

I drive about the same. Sometimes more sometimes less. Average 28,000 a year. I would have loved a Tundra Pro but based on the millage alone I sided with Tacoma Pro.

After careful consideration the Tacoma Pro is better outfitted than the Tundra, and fuel costs are so high in my area a huge part of the Taco is paid for in fuel savings alone. I drove a Ram 1500 Hemi for 3 days and my Taco is better than twice as good millage.

Why are you selling the diesel?

 

I think seating position and comfort come down to size of driver. I'm rather short at 5'8" and don't have the feeling of sitting on floor or stretched out legs like some others have. It fits fine for me, but again, size seems to play a strong role here.

F150 3.5 ecoboost, more comfortable. Get the package with 36 gallon fuel tank and average around 736 miles per tank.

 

I rented a fancy $40,000 2017 F150 4x4 with a V8 last week and was expecting the seats would be large and deeply padded like they used to be on upscale F150's of the 1970's - 90's. Instead I found the bucket seats of the 2017 F150 to be near economy car sized with near economy car amounts of padding. So while the 2017 Tacoma's seats would not win any awards for comfort, I think they are comparable to seats found in 2017 F150's.

 

ive driven the ecoboost and I gotta say, you can't beat physics.
The thing is a wider brick than the taco and its heavier.
Its not as fuel efficient as they advertise it. you literally have to drive it 55 mph to get their MPG estimate..

 

I trade every 2 model years bringing of model year as close as possible. Occasion i keep one longer like I did on my 09 ridge which I kept 5 and 160k. Could of traded in 2 and been about same cost when adding in all normal maintenance and tires and timing belt tune . Never had one issue but I figure if I'd had one big thing break I'd went backward. With my mileage I can trade every year or 2 and its about right unless you get her resale vehicle. Trucks hold good over car and I need a truck and just prefer a truck. Only thing I tow is as bass boat less than 4k and only thing I haul in back is just trash sometimes or gear. It's just me and wife I'm 54 and tacoma is plenty big for us same as colorado. I would not do access can tundra . What I meant by side is length and width. It is just as wide and long as crew. So I prefer crew if tundra. My 3 choices are zr2 diesel crew tacoma trd off pro or crew tundra off road. Again a have always favored toyota and my colorado has been great but it isn't as solid sounding and you can feel the difference. Nothing wrong the full size is same way. I also love the interior simple layout and looks of toyota. If I feel the seats will work on tacoma that is my 1st choice as it fits in garage fuel is about 5 mpg better than tundra and love the looks. If not I'm leaning more toward zr2 for size and stuff but man the difference yesterday sure stood out in feel and interior solidness

 

I'd run that at least another 4 years and still just be breaking in. Driving the miles you do has to be easy peasy (for the vehicle) hwy miles. You'd get 3x the wear on anything mileage related maintenance, except of course tires and driveline fluids. But 'new' isn't going to make that better.

Lots of concerns expressed around here with folks having various aches and pains from long trips. Lots of reasons. Some truck related, some likely people related. Regardless, proceed with caution.
