I'm looking into building my own bed rack. The trick is I would like the top to be removable so I can fit 2 dirt bikes in the bed. Looking to carry traction boards, hi lift, gas cans, shovel and an ax. I have a few ideas floating around in my head. I know there are some creative geniuses here on Tacoma world. So it goes without saying,

Have you even looked in the thread? It's as off the wall as you get.

I've looked through it before and the one made by leitner catches my eye but there is no way in hell I can fit 2 bikes in the bed with it, and all the other ones don't have a removable top. I would have to get rid of the whole rack if I wanted to take my dirt bike with me.

Well by custom I assume you mean home built. If it's something you can buy then it's not custom.

That being said, there is a guy the made the crossbars removable to fit his bike. Don't remember the user name sorry.

That's why I asked about custom stuff. I almost pulled the trigger on the leitner setup but then I realized it would be a snowballs chance in hell for me to fit both bikes in the bed. Don't want to pull my 6x10 trailer for 1 dirtbike.

I have but I never fully trusted those things. Not only the fact that they don't seem stable to me but more of the fact I'm gonna get rear ended by some Houston asshat and lose my bike and my truck. Already been rear ended 6 times in Houston. Haven't been hit in my new truck yet but I was hit twice in my Frontier, twice in my 1st gen, once in the tundra( didn't give a fuck about that truck) and once in my Civic. I know Murphy is always right around the corner.

This is completely off topic, but I watched my first episode of Rick and Morty over the weekend and it was the episode with the floating head.

Now I understand this meme, and have another animated series to watch!
