Hi and thanks for good information on the site. I am currently living in Las Vegas and planning on relocating to New England in a few months. I am seeking a 2014 Tacoma Access Cab, LB, V-6, Auto, 4x4 and TP as my current 2wd Mazda CX=5 doesn't cut it in snow. I can't post on Buy/Sell page yet and I hope some site rule isn't broken if anyone has one they are replacing. I am looking forward to a long relationship here.

I see Austin that you live here as well. To answer your question I would say Las Vegas is everything I predicted it to be when I moved here 2 years ago: a modern large city, with lots of crime, poor drivers, fairly inexpensive, generally good food, in 3 seasons the temp is hot and very hot, and also good roads; however, itt is also a very difficult city to make friends here since Vegas is a 3-shift employment city and a younger persons game. Since I am retired, my social needs are not fulfilled. I have lived in Maine and Central NY for over 50 years, so while I know it gets cold there, my experience was the people are more socially available. Finally, I figured it is easier to get warm when it is cold, than it is to be cool when it is hot. So I am seek a 4-season lake accessible house, a boat and snowmobile. Thanks for asking.

I fully understand. We come from different walks of life for sure. Yes we have crime, but it's expected, and we're working hard to rid as many high stature crimes as possible on a daily basis. I agree, it's way to hot. I was born here and do agree it is much better to try and heat yourself up than it is to cool yourself from 115F heat daily. Metro does have a volunteer program that is always actively seaking people looking to donate their time to help out the community alongside the police, I can promise you you would make lots of friends through the program. If you want a sort of 4 season place, why not move closer to Mount Charleston? Always at least 15-20 degrees cooler than the valley. Just giving suggestions as always. My family is all east coast and my father was born in the Bronx so I can understand the lifestyle you came from. Hopefully you still have a miss to keep you company during your travels because it sounds awesome. Talking about Tacoma's, have you taken a look on Craigslist yet?

Yes, Mt. Charleston is cooler, yet I lack the funds to purchase there, and where is the lake I leave my house and walk to. Just to keep in mind, I spent my adult life as a clinical social worker and really don't want to do any more of that work. Now, I am lazy. Yes, I been to Craigslist. I'm in no hurry and eventually the right car will appear, even though what I seek is more rare since everyone apparently wants the double cab or that's what the dealers want to sell. I read on the site that the 3rd Gen has too many problems.

Ah. Very funny. Yes the Lake Mead is far away, what about Lake Las Vegas? Too expensive still? Ah got it. I would suggest test driving both a 2nd gen and 3rd gen, but you truly need to test drive them to make a mindful decision on either of them. Yes the 3rd gens have problems but 2nd gens too, maybe not as pronounced, but there have been major tsb's for 2nd gens in the past, head gaskets (2005-2006 models), leaf springs multiple years, frame rust causing re spray or frame replacement (or nothing if you live in an area with little rain or water like here), etc. I've test driven both and own an 07 2nd gen with the 4.0v6. It has just enough power to get simple tasks done. The new 3.5v6 in 2016-2017 and beyond are just not my taste along with the new 6spd auto transmission. Test drive and if you don't like the 3rd gen, just keep looking for a solid 2nd gen. If you are tall and or like space, I would 100% suggest getting a double cab. Skip the access Cab or single cab if you like space to move and room to keep things inside.

Yes, many problems, but the 2014 has the least amount of issues than other 2nd or 3rd gen's have. At least that is what I think and I am open to counter conclusions.

I would 100% suggest a 2014 or 2015, you won't be disappointed at all. I was just suggesting opening up your options and maybe just test driving a 2016-2017 3rd gen

Thanks, I am remain reluctant to purchase a 3rd gen as just too many reported mechanical issues, which I am assuming why there are so many used 3rd gen available for resale and so few 2014's. I suspect 3rd gen owners dumping the vehicles? I don't know, but maybe.
