Road widths vary depending on if it's a public street or a private street. I've done roads as narrow as 20' and as wide as 90'. The road sections are based on R values determinded by the soils engineer. The more expansive the material the deeper the section. AB sections can be as low as 10" of AB and as high as 42" of AB (aggregate Base Rock)

L x W x H x 145 divided by 2000 will give you your tonnage. 145 is based off of the weight of the rock for virgin AB supplied by the soils engineer. Recycled is more in the range of 123 - 129.

Yeah, we used to joke at my work about poaching their HR people. Ours was the opposite. One time, I was in an elevator (greenroof project) with 8 attractive Gap ladies. I played it cool and didn't say, "Suuuuuhhhhhh"....

Damn! That's good to know. Thanks for the info. Will definitely use that equation. Sometimes we have to over ex and install more AB if the soil is pumping and there is no time to wait for drying.
We usually only use virgin if the client requires it due to potential Lime (CaHO2) issues. Not good for plants.

Funny how much the curve can affect the depth and budget. Not complaining though since it allows us to work in the wet months.

Lime / cement treating is the save all for winter work or in my case working at sea leave.

I'm dealing with high PH material on my project in Newark. Because the wet utilities are at Elevation -12' The underground guys had to soilcrete 4' bellow to lowest wet utility trench (-16') to create a cut off wall. The job is 100% AB import on the trenches so we have all these spoils that we were suppose to use to build the remaining pads but now can't because the PH is too high and nothing will grow in people's yards. So we are having to build the pads 3' below pad grade, offhaul the remainder of cement dirt then import dirt to top the pads off. Total pain in the ass!

That's funny. Supervisor told me two new cute blondes got hired in the admin building at the beginning of the year. He said his morning meetings used to be dead and only like 5 people would show up and they barely talked...now it's standing room only and everyone tries to get a word in about some "awesome" project they're "leading up", while the girls sit there and roll their eyes at them all.

I belong to the club that maintains that trail. It will be a late opening for sure this year due to the snow.
