Whats up guys. I found a leak on my Tacoma, brought it to the shop and they said the only option is to replace the rack and pinon ($1600). I find that hard to believe as they are slime balls. Did some research and found that the lines are sold but have hit a brick wall on the exact part needed. I would greatly appreciate any information or solutions you guys have.

I had an issue some years ago with a European hydraulic hose/fitting - power steering. I took it to a mom-n-pop hydraulic repair place. Ended up saving a lot of $$$. Might be worth a shot.

Pull the whole line out and call around to your local Napa truck stores. Should be able to set you up with a custom setup for about $40-$60.

I should clarify, some of the Napa stores make custom hydraulic hoses. Call around and find out if anyone in the area does.

Any good hydraulics shop should be able to hook you up with a custom hose for much much less than the dealer.

This is what I did with a PS hose on an RX-7 many years ago. Cost me I think $35 to repair the hose.

My pump went and the line cracked, you can always get custom lines remade or yours fixed but I went direct and purchased the whole setup from Toyota brand new. You can't purchase just the cracked line itself, you have to purchase the whole thing. Now I'm not saying you have to purchase a new rack and pinion, it just looks like the fitting cracked away. Yes it was expensive (I think $300+ from Toyota) but it should last me another 100k to 150k miles before more problems. Plus it's a direct fit.

Copy that what I found looks to be the following link and its around $300. Ill pay that all day compared to the new rack and pinion. Im gonna try and swing by a local hydraulic shop tomorrow like @Jimmyh said and see what they have to say. Thanks for the input, must appreciated!

I'm bringing this back because I can't seem to find a thread on power steering pump replacement. Just FYI I usually don't trust people but I trusted a family friend to install the new pump and he lied and said he did it when I picked it up. Yes my fault for not checking. He never installed the new one. I told him to give me back the old one when he pulled it off, he dirtied up the new one, unscrewed the new metal nipple, and put it in the container I told him to put it in. Fortunately the company I purchased it from is going to refund me for the new pump that was messed up and send me a new one. I'm just going to install it myself next weekend but I can't find diagrams or maybe a thread on how to replace it. 2nd gen only guys if you can find it, I've seen lots of 1st gen replacements. Thanks

I would appreciate that a lot. Thank you. Does he include any diagrams?
I know... I know... He is a son of an LVMPD captain that my family knows. I put my trust in him and it just didn't work out. I've got a 2nd new pump on the way, the Amazon company is working with me and getting me a new pump and I'm just going to do it myself.
Thank you for that too. The torque specs are really helpful I appreciate the link.
