Ok to switch to synthetic???

My truck only has 22000 miles on it is it ok to switch to Mobil 1 synthetic??

Yes. It's actually a perfect time. You should run Dino oil for at least 10,000 miles before switching to synthetic. This lets the internals wear and seat together properly. Crazy how "slippery" synthetics are.

 

You should be fine with synthetic.

Why of course it is!

I've been using Mobil 1 fully synthetic motor oil (along with a Mobil 1 oil filter as well) for my 2008 Tacoma since I first purchased it, brand new, back in April of 2008.

Today the engine has well over 200,000 miles on it, now coming up on 10 years old and it's still running great.

 

You can use synthetic anytime you want. I use Mobil 1 in my 2010 regular cab, it's good oil & always on sale somewhere. My 2016 MX-5 came with synthetic as the original fill.

 

I have 185K full syn mobile 1 and filters. At 130k I checked valve clearances and it was super clean in there.

You should try Amsoil. Oh and your engine came from the factory already broke in and able to use synthetic on the first day. Its not like the old days where you had to break it in before you switched. I had that happen back in the day and had to switch back to conventional and then back to synthetic after it was broke-in. Those days are gone. Its my opinion that Amsoil is a better oil than Mobil 1 and I have used both. Everyone on this forum has an opinion about the best oil. Just letting you hear mine. Don't do it man, synthetic oil requires 22,001 miles. Anything less will cause the engine to freeze. Yes I know it's scary.....

I am a firm believer in higher frequency oil changes and therefore the use of conventional oil is more cost effective. If there is no turbo charger involved, it takes a lot of abuse to break down the lubricity of modern engine oils. Time between oil changes is what causes entrapped combustion carbon wear and sludge build up, this happens regardless of oil type.

 

i just started using amsoil after i broke 100k miles.

Mobil 1 or Amsoil...both are good options and are way better than conventional oil.
