Yeah for someone that's "jokingly" saying this shit, it sure turns personal really quick. Hence why I stepped in about the "sport" comments. @Tacomamike mike I think that's enough Tacomaworld for today for you. Maybe stop attacking anyone that disagrees with you and take a chill pill, brother. Bottom line is, these truck squeak after you take them off road. Period. Honestly why is this even a thread? OP went to the dealer, they cleaned and lubed it up, stopped the squeak or lessened it, OP comes to TW to whine about it, disregarding the 1000 other threads about it, everyone loses their minds when the first person says "suck it up, it's a truck".

I never had squeaky leaf springs taking my 94 4 X 4 v6 access cab off road. Also never had any problems with squeaky leaf springs on my 85 F 150 4 x 4 or my 95 4 Cyl. Hilux.

Mine sounds like a beat up piece of trash, and I'm ok with that, it's the nature of the beast, but then it's fun watch necks snap and jaws drop when I'm blasting through whup sections doing 60+ and it's like butter.

Did you mud it? Let it sit for 3 days? My Tacomas never squeaked. My Dakota never squeaked. My 65 Chevy squeaks like a SOB. It doesn't even have leaf springs.

This is a case of people being annoyed by something after it's been neglected. It's NOT a Toyota quality issue.

Keep in mind I'm not trying to come down on you I'm just making a point.

So all I'm seeing here is a few people talking about how theirs never squeaked, but the vast majority of Tacomaworld is saying it does. And then people saying it's a defect. My answer? Then sell the trick, because that's how 2nd and 3rd gens pretty much are. Especially if you off-road it. Unless you're breaking the leaf pack down after every off-road trip and cleaning it and repainting the leafs, it's gonna squeak.

Oregon to Baja Ca.Mexico. All of my Ford and Toyota trucks over the years have been very dependable.Toyota had much more control over it's supply chain back then.

Now days it's all about exploiting third world nations ignorant , slave labor wage work force.

My Tacoma was built in San Antonio.

You know, I think the OP's scant replies here and there are pretty telling. If he doesn't really care, than neither should we.

What would you like me to do, keep arguing with you?

Number one, yes I do care or I would not have made the initial and subsequent posts. Two, I truly appreciate the genuinely helpful feedback. The name-calling, immature, and defensive comments are simply not productive.

I have already gotten the feedback that I asked for. It seems that almost everyone on this thread feels like I am whining, so I thought I'd let a sleeping dog lie. It just blows my mind that a truck designed for off-road activities has this lingering squeak problem. Seems to me that the quality engineers at Toyota would have never let this pass. Even if they had to design a totally new leaf with perforations to self-clean, grooves, use a different material, etc.

Those of you that don't care that your trucks squeak amaze me. And I'll bet that there is not a used car manager in the land that would not deduct dollars on a trade in value that they placed on a truck with that bad squeaking. Similarly, I'm guessing if a dealer took a squeaky Taco in on trade that they'd get it fixed before placing it on the lot for sale. This, to me, points to the fact that the squeaks are 'generally' undesirable, albeit apparently not for all of you out there.

I get it, I'm an inexperienced, ignorant, stubborn, whiny, cry-baby, that should "know better" than to abuse my truck by not washing it for three whole days and expect it to perform without issue. smh...

Hahahaha. Letting it sit with mud on it for 3 days is not abuse. I have been on Offroad trips that lasted longer than 3 days. And I never wash it as soon as I leave the woods.
It doesn't hurt to let it sit with mud on it.

If the mud got into something like a ball joint or leaf springs then it's already there and the damage is done. It's the nature of off-roading. You have to pay to play.

Paying to play is probably something I did overlook and for which I am certainly guilty of not expecting to do. I would expect to "pay to play" if I was using my truck for rock-crawling, as I am aware of the expense in that (stories from friends busting parts), but I had no idea that I'd be "paying to play" in a little mud. My "stupid tax" has been readily applied. :)

No sir, but your last post by your own admission was a tad inflammatory.

You weren't so vocal about it when the guy doing it was on your side.

Your truck is an SR5, NOT an Off Road, so dare I submit that you do NOT own a truck designed for off road. You bought the wrong truck. Even if various new materials were used to enhance the suspension, they wouldn't be found on your vehicle.

Mine doesn't squeak. I've never abused it. If I had I certainly would not be complaining about Toyota engineering.

Wrong. I took a hit on my 2011 trade in due to hail damage. They did NOT fix it before they sold it for 3K more than I got. Somebody still bought it despite Toyotas "poor quality sheet metal."

Making an assumption then using it as evidence to support your claim?

Yes you should. And you should know not to blame it on the vehicle.

    True.

    True.

True, not an "Off Road". What is an SR5 4X4 designed for then, rough pavement?

    Great.

Wrong? Do you know all of the used car managers in the land? Have you questioned them all about the likelihood of marking off for a squeaking noise? Making an assumption and then using it as evidence to support your claim?

    It appears that way.

See how silly it was to respond to your "baited post"? This back and forth is not helping anything, but I felt obliged to prove this to you.

You win. Have a great evening.

I had an SR5 with 4wd because I needed improved traction in a slippery environment... snowy winter and such. Never occurred to go mudding, because I knew I wasn't equipped for that.

    No and neither have you.

If back and forths aren't helpful, maybe a different website would be helpful.

It seems to me @tnjyoung you wanted to come on here and bitch about how you took your truck off-road and now the suspension squeak and you expected everyone to fall over themselves to tell you how it's shoddy Toyota engineering and they should give you a new truck under warranty yadda yadda yadda. That's not the case. This isn't a forum about talking shit on Tacomas. It's a forum for helping others find a solution to problems or modifying their vehicles to their liking.

Multiple people gave you a solution to your problem and answered your questions. The fact that you didn't like the solution or answers isn't our fault. So continuing to come on here and whine about leafs and how Toyota should change a design that's been on the truck for going on 13 years now, is a little over the top.

My Gen 2 back end squeaked quite a bit from about 20K all the way to 320K till I sold it. Other than a U joint and coil pack it was bullet proof (oil changes, brakes pads/drums, tires)! I wondered about it at first, but never became an issue. I noticed a little squeaking on my Gen 3 today when I was running slow. I'm not concerned about it...
