I had to do a pretty advanced yoga maneuver to get mine out...

 

It's too tight for that, I'm gonna have to yank the headers I think

Today is gonna suck.
Rear shoes, drums and cylinder all need to be changed.
One of the brake shoe hold down pins broke the other day and everything imploded.

 

Just spotted this.
Should I just beat on it to straighten it out? Or do I have get a replacement?

I'm going to have to remove the old brake cylinder and replace with a new one. Which means I have to undo the brake hardline flare nut.
How do I deal with the brake fluid that's gonna pour out? Is there a way to slow or stop the fluid?

 

Not sure what size the brake lines are in the back on our trucks but possibly a pencil eraser cap? Or you could get one of those brake bleeder bottles and stretch the hose over the line then binder clip it closed.

Cut off a box wrench and weld it onto a piece of pipe.
I did the two wrench dog leg.

Tested with the new drum before installing the shoes. No rubbing!!!!

 

I still need an exhaust re route if that helps you out any. And hopefully some suspension work done soon.

 

I did the two wrench but no go, it was torqued too much. I pulled the headers and dropped the skid and put a breaker bar on it. Broke an exhaust stud at the cat so had to drill that out and I don't have a tap that size so fuck it I'm putting a bolt In it and calling it a day....still trying to button everything up

 

Yeah. Tell me about these fucking days. I discovered a rear diff leak while working on the brakes.

 

That sounds like one of my projects. Usually the cuts scrapes and bruises heal before the following weekend.

Finally buttoned up. Nothing like a 7 hour starter change. Just glad no more bolts broke

 

Glad youre back on the road. What would have caused the bolts to be so tight? I replaced mine in like an hour or 2... nothing was all that hard to undo. Reahing in there sucks though for sure

 

His truck is 11 years old
