Anyone running Cooper Discoverer HTP's on their Tacomas

Would like to see pictures. Thinking about this for my next tire. Reviews would be appreciated. Thanks.

I just put some in my 2014 AC PRERUNNER

 

Wish I had seen this before. Did the OP end up putting them on? I did and love them.

 

Any reason you wouldn't go for a more aggressive tread OP? I run Cooper Discoverer ST Maxx and they've been great so far. Good traction in all situations and low road noise.

 

What size you running in those?

 

Actually running tall/skinny 255/85-16s. One of the few non-MT tires in that size.

i'd really like talll and skinny to be my next size but the loss in mpgs has me considering going 265/75- I know, I know,
only a few lbs difference between both sizes but that along with some stories about difficulty balancing this size has me considering other smaller.

Or even a whole other less aggressive tire like the atp but im not completely sold on going this route.

Was there considerable loss when you got them mounted?
Any issues with balancing?

 

Just don't buy the HT tires they are complete junk and the cheapest tires cooper makes worthless IMO, not sure on the htp model tire, the AT/3 is a good choice as well they work great, on and off road, and are fairly quiet, although the set on my wife's Highlander are defective they are so loud like three to four times as loud as my STMAXX, and they get rotated every oil change.. I need to get them back to Cooper service and have them replaced ... but overall Cooper makes good tires..

 

Not a ton of mpg loss, probably some. They took more weight to balance than the 265/75-16 size I came from, but they did balance. The only downside is that the truck seems not to track as well at highway speeds as it did with smaller tires.

The HTP is totally different that HT. HTP is like a highway all terrain hybrid. For my use they're the best option that Cooper makes. $150 tire is not cheap but not the price of the all terrains that I don't need. Works good for me, although for looks I would love the ATP's. Wish I could drive with the HTP's and swap out for ATP's once in a while. Guess I could it I had 2 sets of wheels.

 

265/75/16. Stock suspension

 

Yeah I was looking at these tires as a option to replace the current AT/3 on the wife's highlander.. if I don't get the run around from Cooper service... I use to see them a lot when I worked for Cooper...

Any drastic drop in mpgs?
My stocks are 245s and the only reason I'd entertain the atp/at3 is to minimize that drop.
