What finish is on the scoop on the TRD pro? Vinyl, painted matte black??? I'm replacing my damaged non scoop hood with the scooped version and the scoop from toyota is black but designed to be painted not installed as is.

I am pretty sure they come painted matte black. Are you wanting to color match it? Otherwise, slap it on as-is!

    none yet/none planned! It's perfect!
I think it is just unpainted black smooth plastic. Just like the front bumper but just a little smoother. Just went and looked.

It's definitely painted or something. The way it comes it has the plastic swirl marks all in it so it probably matte black. I thought it would be just like the bumper but not the case.

The underneath of the scoop is exactly the same finish and color inside the engine compartment as outside the hood. The sport scoop might be painted but I am 99% sure the Scoop that comes on the Pro is not painted.

I saw that post. I also found their use to be different suffixes to the part numbers that have all been superseded to the current. So they may have came black or color matched but not anymore. And mine doesn't look like the pic.

You'll want to paint it or vinyl wrap it, otherwise the sun will destroy the plastic color. Can use rustoleum matte black, same stuff they use for racing stripes and such

I'll probably end up having the body shop shoot it with black and a matte clear or something to that effect. I looked closer at the other scoop piece that goes below and the grille portion has been painted. So it's likely to assume the pro version scoop is painted.

So can that be mounted onto a off-road hood?

Gay no one wants to swap hoods but i have so many other upgrades I NEED to do so i cant justify blowing 800 on a new painted hood.

You could drill holes and bolt it in to an off-road hood but might look a little funny lol.

Definitely looks painted a matte black. Is it the same texture as the grille?

It's going to paint anyways, so I'm going to have them spray it. Then I won't have to worry about it.
