    @Tacoma Mike ,
    We were targeting Fluke (summer flounder) this morning. No keepers, all short ,but a few surprise species.
    We caught a couple Squeteagues (weakfish) some 2 1/2 pound Scup (porgies) and a couple Black Sea Bass.
    Weakfish were small compared to the ones we caught in the 70's, 22 inches compared to 10-15 pounders back then.
    They were all but gone for the last 30 years and it's nice seeing a few around.

    I can relate. I've driven an hour and half to go fly fishing and have a couple of vehicles parked in "my" spot. So go to the next and same thing. More than once I've said the hell with it and drove back home. Used to be when I left it was usually fishing dark to dark and explore new spots if I have to. Haven't done that in several years now.

    Hell Andy I don't even know your wife and love her!

    Food for the week done. Inch and half thick pork loin chops cut up and marinated in salt brine and brown sugar for an hour and a half. Couple of Onions and a squash. King Hawaiin marinde with bacon. All on a stick.

    king hawi pork and zuke.jpg

    5 pounds of beef jerky on the smoker for a couple of hours. Still have 11.5 pounds of pork belly to cure. Think it is time for a nap first this heat is kicking my ass.

    I'm slacking. Just put 2 lbs of beef and a few apples in the dehydrator.

    If some of you have an interest or are kinda on the fence about a dehydrator, it's really worth it. Besides food lasting longer, it really enhances flavors. Yes, because the water is all taken away, the flavor is more concentrated. But for something like squash and tomatoes, it's awesome. I keep a few dehydrated veggies in the freezer and throw them in sauces and it really adds a ton of flavor.

    If you like apples, pears, strawberries...alot of the foods you travel with, it makes life so much easier. Packing is easier and dehydrated takes up less box space and cooler space. Just packing a lunch box is easier.
