Hey guys, I'm trying to plan out a camper shell purchase. I remember seeing a picture of a lifted tacoma with a walk in camper shell (with the rear double doors and no tailgate).

Does anyone have pics of a double cab with the walk in style camper shell? Ideally with a 3 inch lift or any pros and cons to that style other than not having a tailgate?

Thanks for the posts so far, does anyone have experience with this style vs regular shell for camping/overlanding? Maybe I'm not thinking of something that will have a large affect on camping.

Ive had normal shells before not this style before

Not worth the price for me at all lol but I'm sure they can be found on craigslist for less

They are scarce used, that's for sure... Check every day and be ready to jump on it the same day! Also, I've seen them at topper dealers - most take them in trade, you could get lucky...

For camping you still want the tailgate. It's a nice seat or table. I camp in a high top camper shell with a platform over the wheel wells. It's convenient to pull stuff out from under the platform onto the tailgate. The single door would block access.

Those are slightly less at $1200 FOR THE DOOR ALONE, Trust me I wanted one to solve the locking tailgate issue.

BUCKLE UP! It makes it harder for Aliens to pull you out of your Truck.
7 years with no issues and my original still like new tail gate sitting in my basement is a plus
