Did you use the Flush Mount or the Dash mount and cannibalize just the part with the ball to attach to the Ram Mount Arm? Pictures?

Peel and stick the flush mount magnet to the ram mount. Took about a minute.

I'm running a small phone and it hangs on there good. It's kind of cool to open the door and just stick on the holder. We'll see how it works out. I switched from having the X grip on there witch I also liked. I like experimenting with these gadgets. Lol!

I'm using the X-grip with mine as well, but I was sort of looking at something that can be done easily one-handed. I have an iPhone SE too.

It's a $25.00 investment to try it out. The magnet mounts are pretty popular and tested. With the X grip you know it's mounted solid, with this your relying on the
    Strength of the magnet.

It is a fast way to slap your phone up on the phone mount one handed, and tool on down the road.

Im thinking about using the dash mount and cannibalizing just the magnet mount because it attached to the dash mount using a ball and socket design. I'm thinking the ball could be used with the RAM Arm.

If it's a 1" ball it should work.

Just did this over the weekend. I like it. Good position for both my wife and I to see it without blocking vision out the windshield. I also found the 55mm bolt to work better.

people in this thread be talkin' about, 'this is my favourite mod!'. and i be like, no fucking way. it seems cool, but top 3?!?! then i did it today and it's like, yep, slicker than shit. what a cool-ass mod.

i went to 4 spots looking for the elusive M6-55 and struck out. i made my own out of a custom cut piece of threaded rod and a nyloc nut and otherwise followed instructions in the OP. nice.

I used a 60mm long bolt with 2 nuts and 2 lock washers, and wrapped electrical tape around the threads inside the ball to fill in the garage between the OD of the bolt and ID of the ball mount. Ram makes a nice holder for the Garmin GPS. Thanks for the idea here

I may try that version there,

This is a great mod and I have moved the ball from one vehicle to the next when we took something else on vacation, But I have an extra arm like this and I think it'll work better.

Also I ditched my Note-4 for an iPhone 6S, the smaller size will fit better for sure.

FWIW folks this sized mount works grea if you have an iPhone 6, 6S or 7 in a Lifeproof case,

    See below,

First pic is my iPhone 6S in a Lifeproof case in the large X-Grip, which used to hold my Note-4.
Second pic is the same phone in the X-Grip my wife uses with her iPhone 6 and her phone has a Commuter case on it.

Last is my phone in her X-Grip.

I'd much rather have the larger one if you have a significant case on your phone.

The reason is getting to the buttons, being able to work either the volume or the sleep/wake button with one hand when the phone is mounted.

Also this is small to some but a huge tip from myself, in the larger mount you can just grab the phone and rotate it counter clockwise while slightly lifting it and you can easily remove the phone with one hand. It's best to put it in the cradle with two though. Also depends a little on your mounting station and how solid it is.

    YMMV :)
