You kept the sliding mechanism intact right? How did you do the welding and cutting? I have some Lexus seats trying to put in.

LOL - starter kind of lagged a little bit for the first crank (i changed the fuel filter and thought that might be it). I immediately realized though that something was amiss since I not only heard a weird noise but also FELT something 'off'. I thought cat or rodent and turned off the engine LIGHTNING FAST. Of course at 300 RPM for a brief second, that detail towel is shredded to poop.

I was cleaning the engine bay a bit and thought I had grabbed all of my rags. Tired and missed one. Lesson learned. Could've been a lot worse. Oh well. Going to replace the belts anyway - I think I changed them out in 2015 when timing belt was done. Better than picking towel fibers out of the belt grooves.

That should be all the same. I have a pdf for ecu pin outs I'll send you. No wiring for the pedals other then the brake light switch.

If anything, it'll just be as simple as cutting off the puts from the auto and soldering on your plugs from your rolled truck. But most of that should not effect the motor functions.

Yeah! I have the electrical worked out for the most part and I have some Tacoma seat tracks ready to go but I don't know where to cut and where to weld. I wanted to keep the sliding mechanism intact so I bought some angle iron I was planning on welding to the grinded down Tacoma rails ontop of the slider. Where did you modify the Tacoma rails?

I got the curved ones. They were way curved. Had to straighten them. Straight ones would have been fine.
I like how simple your rack is. I'm looking to do damn near the same thing for the cross bars. My cap is very similar too. It's an older Leer 100XQ. I have the same tracks. How did you mount them? Did you go through to the inside?

Tore through both (Diver and Passenger side) CV boots out around Edison Butte near Bend, Oregon. Drove it home to Corvallis (~128 miles) without issue other then some binding noises in the parking lot of a Starbucks in Bend. I'm kind of a noob when it comes to CVs but Im planning on driving to the parents house in Missoula, MT this coming weekend(~630 miles), should I replace the CVs before I leave or should they be good until I arrive in Montana? I won't be putting it into 4 wheel drive until I replace them.

They spin regardless of being in 4 wheel drive or not unless you have manual locking hubs. I'd change them before the big trip.

Also, shout out to @m3bassman. I'm really enjoying the 2' firestik on the hood mount. Perfect for my application. Thanks for the tips!

Thanks! I got my inspiration from this thread: https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/cheap-diy-shell-roof-rack.476955/#post-14480294

I followed exactly what he did, only I ordered the tracks, and used JB weld instead of tacking the bolts on the flat stock that allows the crossbars to slide in the tracks. I used the same longer bolts to mount to the shell so I can put a cargo net on the inside, and ground down 1" flat stock so it fit inside the tracks:

Front/Rear Diff & Transfer Case oil change

Question though... Do torque specs differ from 1st gen & 2nd gen for the front diff? Haynes lists it as 20ft-lbs for the fill & drain yet the tutorial on in the 1st gen "How To" on here (which btw directs to a 2nd gen thread ) specifies 29ft-lbs for the fill and 48ft-lbs for the drain.

@Tacodreams Looks good. Hey what size tires are those? 32? Are they BFG MTs?

And grey too. How close is the color match? They look pretty damn good from here.
