Yeah i'll have to do some searching and see what the deal is. If we try all linking up it might get too overwhelming. I was thinking more keeping a local group together. Once there it seems everyone just mingles through camp to hang out anyway.

Sick/vacation is pretty much all roped into one big lump. It's not great. But I work (4) 10's Mon-Thur and have 3 day weekends pretty much every weekend unless we are up against a deadline so that's pretty awesome. Salary so the hours don't do anything for me.

I had a knee surgery earlier this year that put me down for a while, plus it seems like all my buddies decided to get married the same year so between traveling for weddings and bachelor parties I'll be using the last of it the Thursday for Overland Expo.

Lots of hippies too. Used to live outside Asheville. I sure do miss the mountains.

I could see that in some sense if they had a "discounted" PTO rate for volunteered OT. At the same time though, I could see your company having the view of with your rank and pay that you should be allowed so much time off unless your work is forcing you to work the OT for the company's immediate benefit. IMO just because you volunteer your time for more OT which will already yield different pay differentials to your benefit, I would think they should have some rights into how much you can maximize the situation.

At the same time though, they should reward some additional PTO in some fashion as time in is still time in, although Im sure this is outlined in their clauses in regards to volunteered PTO.

For my company, I don't think we get any additional PTO hours logged for OT as to us its simply more pay. But that's what I signed up for with this company so I got no argument.

In a 2 week period i work 84 hours. 12 hour days, but I only work 7 days. In a month i get 17.6 hours off, with a max of 248 hours.

Every team has a budget. My rank? Im damn near the bottom. If someone else takes off, my boss offers to me. She's cool like that. I jump at any chance.

Also if you work 7+ days in a row, starting on a Friday, you can get DT. I tried, but around day 4 or 5 in a row is damn hard. And work just gets boring.

Just saying that at every company you know where you generally stand in the hierarchy. I don't have a rank for say at mine, but yea Im still near the bottom which yields a certain amount of time off a year unless special circumstances/renegotiations take place. What is the term DT? I can imagine especially in your line of work where there is likely many times where you are just policing the network. I have learned to be pretty decent at screwing off on the internet, but to be glued to a pc regardless for 7 days can get pretty unmotivating I would assume. My point though, is many times the smaller guy at a company tends to be limited in the extent of the perks that someone with more time MIGHT get. Anyway, it sounds like there are decent benefits at your spot. Im sure my company is probably not that competitive when it comes to PTO and stuff as I think I get about 15 PTO days a year for my low position.

Double Time. Will you be motivated if you were getting double the pay for the day? Or over time is time and a half. Thats not too bad.

    Edit:
Im not at the bottom. But the PTO is based on years of service. 0-4 years get a certain amount, 5-15 years get a certain amount, 16+ get a certain amount. Whether you are hourly or salary.

Damn that's cool that they offer that, I assume that kicks in after day 5? Fuck that sounds like you got to be a drone to really get to achieve that though without losing it. I would hate the feeling that your life is meant just to survive work and repeat.

Day 7 and on, but only if it starts on a Friday.

If its on a Wednesday, you have to work 2 extra days to get to Friday

Mine is similar to that in regards to years. Im right at 4 years now with my company so hopefully things will start to change at this interval. I agree if I was making that sort of pay that would be somewhat motivating, but I could see a ceiling with doing that continuously for myself as eventually I would want to change things up. Problem with the business I deal with is we need a reason to employ OT on a job. If the need to get things done isn't paramount, then I don't have the opportunity. But we also have an expected time to work during the day instead of 'round the clock operation that your job seems to have.

Man that seems pretty long when you have to hit day 7. Do they try to give you that sort of schedule to achieve DT or would they prefer you didn't hit that threshold?

yea that's kind of the way mine works.... every 2 weeks we get 6.67 hours of PTO... so I get around 4 weeks off per year + 10 holidays
