    Hey guys, my little nephew just purchased this truck and I'm helping it build it. Today we changed the cap, rotor, spark plugs, fuel filter, battery, oil, oil filter and radiator flush. My uncle sold it to my nephew and told him it was running years ago before he just parked it for years. After doing all the basic service on the truck I still could not get it to start. It starts if I out carb cleaner on the car and stays on as long as I keep spraying it. It has a clear gas filter and I do not see any fuel going to it. Any advise ?     We changed the fuel pump but nothing but still nothing comes out.

    It does not seem like it but it has a mechanical fuel pump with no wires.

    I checked the cable that goes to the fuel pump and there is no power running to it. Followed the cable to the inside of the cab, where it connects to another harness, leading to the main harness. I unplugged the harness, checked it and there is no power coming to any of the wires. I check the fuses and none are bad. Any ideas ? Is there a relay that might be burnt? I would appreciate any help. Thanks

    Did you get the little pushrod for the fuel pump on right, sometimes they slip and then it won't do shit. But if you have an electric pump you wouldn't need the manual? On my 81 I just bought they blocked off the factory one and just put an electric one in which I hate.

    If it is a mechanical pump and has been installed correctly my next guess would be a dry rotted piece of rubber hose somewhere in the fuel line system. If it has a whole it would not create vacuum and pull fuel.

    Just looked up the fuel pump def mechanical like a small block Chevy.
    I'd say ether debris in the tank or most likely a rotted hose.
