Has anyone on here installed an aftermarket head unit in a 3rd gen? I have searched around but I don't see many installs on 3rd gens. I have an SR5 entune system with xm but without jbl, or onboard nav. I'd like to upgrade to one that better integrates with my iphone using carplay. I just want to see if any 3rd gen owners have done it, and what there experience was. If you have any install pics to share, I'd love to see them. Thanks.

I have the entune audio plus with app suite and navigation and I upgraded all the speakers and added an amp with a system from OEM audio and it is great.. no issues

I just recently installed a Kenwood DMX7704S with CarPlay. I didn't like the Nav that came with Tacoma originally.

Yeah the nav sucks, at least on sr5. Do you have any pics of the stereo in your truck? Were you able to keep all your steering wheel controls?

Crutchfield has everything you need, but I ordered everything from my local installer and warranted everything plus install since I ordered through them. https://www.crutchfield.com/

So with the aftermarket HU would I still be able to maintain the Sirius XM access through the stock antenna? Or would a new antenna need to be run? Also AFAIK I would need a new Bluetooth mic correct?

I have been going back and forth on installing an android HU. But haven't never seen anyone who installed one on a 3rd gen. I have heard mixed reviews from people who have installed on 2nd gens. How is this working for you? What are you likes/dislikes? How was the install? Thanks for the pics.

From what I hear from others is if you are already wired for xm, you can use the existing antenna, but it seems like you must install a new mic for the bluetooth.

Idata has an adapter specifically for the XM antenna. I didn't realize there was one when I got mine installed and they added a small one to my dash. The one on the dash came with the tuner.

How are you enjoying this HU so far?
Where did you order this HU from and did it come with the trim/bezel?

I like the CarPlay a lot. I didn't like the Nav that came with Entune and I think the Kenwood is a huge upgrade. I figured out everything I needed from https://www.crutchfield.com/ then worked with a local installer to order it since he warranted everything including the install for a year. I was able to get everything to work from the original radio except the Phone Mic. I couldn't use the one built into the truck.
