I visited my dealer the other day to pick up the cable I needed to install my cruise control, and while there, went to look at wheels and side step options on their trucks in inventory to decide what I'm going to add next. Several of the Tacoma's had the "Predator" side steps, but upon closer inspection, they weren't the real Predator side steps, but looked suspiciously like N-Fab's. I asked one of the sales guys, and he said they were the factory Toyota parts, but looking online, they're definitely aftermarket, albeit with a factory price tag and "Predator Steps" on the options list.

Goes to show you really have to be aware of what they're selling you.

The real Predator people might want to know about this if their name is trademarked.

Does the invoice/window sticker indicate they are OEM factory parts? Just because they are priced like OEM doesnt necessarily mean anything.

I would take the N-fabs over the "predators" I saw at my dealer. I have the N fabs and I like them.

If I remember correctly, I don't recall seeing the nomenclature "OEM," but I do recall seeing "Predator Side Steps," which would infer the factory part.

Does toyota have a copyright of the name Predator for "nerf" bars/steps?

Agreed. Have had my n-fabs for a year and a half now, no complaints.

I think i read somewhere on the forum that there are two different predator steps, one is older and has been discontinued while the other has a new part number etc. Maybe there is a slight difference in the look?
