I am planning on putting the OME BP-51s on my TRD OR this winter or early spring. I am back and forth on tire size. Currently I am considering 265/75r16s or 285/75r16s (32" vs. 33"). I am prepared for the CMC and reshaping the fender liners if I go 33s, that does not bother me and is not my concern. My concern is everyday driving and its feel. I want to go with the 33s but I do 30 highway miles (~70-75mph) and 10 around town miles per day for my commute. I know lots of people complain about stock power, shifting and gearing, i do not have any issue with the truck because I came from a massively underpowered Volvo. My question is how much does the truck change after 33s? Is a regear going to be a necessity for everyday driving? I would like to hear any and all opinions, 33s regeared or not! thanks!

if your truck is auto, by all means regear. If it's manual, they are pretty well geared from factory

Could you get 33's drive it for a bit and see if you think you need to re-gear?

285's here. Power delivery isn't HORRIBLE, but I can feel a little difference. Not to mention mine are E rated(10ply) so a bit heavier. IMO you are right on the edge of re-gearing with 33's. Not a necessity but would definitely be nice to have. I am going larger tires.. so without a questions I will HAVE to re-gear.

Regearing is expensive man. I'd rather just deal with a little shittier gas mileage. Worth the trouble for some badass 33's

Is there a benefit to having those specific rims? (Other than looks)

Yes! I'm glad someone got them. Not glad they are heavy. Hmm.

Regearing will cost you around $2000 with install

ive got the 2.7 with the automatic, and 255 85 16s honestly not as bad as I thought it would be at all ,and I do a lot of hilly terrain and a 100 mile a day commute very happy , maybe less width of the 255 vs the 285 helps with less wind resistance ? im sure others on the forum will have a better way of explaining what im trying to say haha

It's not just about MPG. But power delivery, and your drive-train isn't working as hard.

Yeah..I'll look cool in EVERY parking lot. Not just the malls.

HELL YA! Just means I'll need more power(wink wink turbo)

$1300 for gears and $900 for labor. So ya..close

I think i could run the 255/85r16 st maxx from cooper. about 54 lbs a tire and i think would drive okay. i dont NEED a 33, i'd like one but thats a different story. with my driving as a DD and wheeling about 25-50 miles per month a 265/75r16 would really be just fine
