Modded it so much it turned into a 4Runner
Depends on how much weight you're planning to run if you're a 6MT. If you're going to add a bumper and shit, do the regear.

    ahhh, well a 265/75r16 would result in ~1/2" or a 285/75r16 or 255/85r16 would result in ~1"

    EDIT: negligible IMHO

You might be a bit surprised as to how much that bit of clearance can help off-road

aaaah they look so damn cool!! But, I already feel like my ~65-ish pound wheels aren't optimal with my 2.7 w/ 4.3 gears

I feel like with my 2.7 I'm opening pandora's box on a regear. If you're regearing why not add a locker, if you're adding a locker why are you doing it to a 4x2 with mild suspension... Suddenly $33,000 later I have no pants.

Even 235/85R16 or something I get all nervous when I look at the weights vs my 265/70R16, 'cause they're pretty much all E-range tires. I specifically bought my Falken AT3Ws non-E range because I didn't need the capacity plus they only weigh about 42 pounds!

    Should've gotten a v6 off-road

Not really. Depends on someone's tolerance. Just because you think it's not okay, doesn't mean someone else will feel the same.

When I ran 33's (mine is auto) i wouldn't have regeared. Not a big enough diff to justify 2000 bucks.

Now that I'm running 35's I still haven't regeared. I even have the gears in my garage. It's not bad enough for me to care yet. :D

If you plan to wheel....even the easy stuff then regear. If you plan to pick chicks up at the mall leave as is and get beat off the line by VW buses.

I want to go to 4.88 and I'm stock. I bet I could sell my 4.3's before I can even pull them. Hell maybe I should.

I agree to this for manuals for sure. Autos you can get away with higher gearing a little easier.

I must have an extremely low tolerance, I was ready to Regear with 265/75/16. Also when you do regear check out rear end specialities in Santa Clara.

Maybe I just had more parts to buy and that helped up my tolerance.

That's what I hear for install places. Just need to decide if I want to take the whole truck in or just the carriers and have them do those.

I run 33's on my a/t trd sport. I can't imagine re-gearing, the drivability has not changed one bit. Maybe if you put 35"+ e rated tires you might get into the realm of re-gearing, but not with 33s.

I don't really get that bad. I got it come back from overland west with crazy headwinds and a slight incline with rtt and a couple hundred pounds in the bed.

I average 14.8-15 with almost all city driving

Cooper st maxx's in 255/85/16 are 57.9 pounds, e-rated of course. Not too much of a jump weight wise to some 285's, but I think the wind resistance may be a factor. Also, depending on how frequently you push the go pedal YMMV.

I'm installing them in a couple weeks, not planning on regearing.
