did you get the amp research bracket or oem swingarm? if you bought brackets, did you use the screws it came with or did you buy nuts and bolts? if you used the screws, did you have to remove the taillight first?

I bought this type for like 20 buks on Amazon and no need to remove tail light. I just used the bed extender with bracket. Marked the first screw holes with a punch and hammer to mark where to drill pilot hole. After first hole is done, mount the bracket loose/but snug. Do this for each side. One screw to hold it in place. Then punch the other 2 and drill pilot hole. No need to remove bracket to drill, just push it to the down position. When ready pull it back up and install all screws nice and snug.
Mine looks like this one that was posted earlier.

The Tacoma will only use bed mounted brackets that screw into the D-Pillar sheet metal.

Also be sure if you get a Nissan extender, you must purchase the Toyota Latch barrel kit separately from AMP research.

I just used the screws (no need to remove tailight for this) and they hold the brackets very well. Like I said, highly recommend getting the quick release brackets for a couple of bucks more

That is my Frontier. The brackets dont fit the Tacoma. I'm using the D-pillar mounted brackets for the Tacoma

NP. Yeah it's pretty good. I went ahead and stuck some rubber sealing along the edges to make it semi-water tight. Black silicone should also do the trick. Didn't know if I needed to but figured I'd give it a shot. Have had quite a few downpours and everything remains dry.

When i have extra funds I want to get the pelican 1740. It fits like a glove and is not as tall so you can place things on top.

I live in southern California. It doesn't rain here much. Lol. Primarily to keep dirt and dust out from trails. Good tip on the sealing though.
