Been extremely busy with work so it leaves me little time to play on the forums :). Still daily driving the truck but I am about to pull the whole exhaust side off for coating of the manifold and converting the downpipe to a 3" vband setup. I've been fighting the studs backing out this whole time which keeps creating an annoying exhaust leak.

Had a similar problem on another vehicle once. Damn it was annoying.

Well..... I ended up pulling everything off the truck one last time. The exhaust leaks were driving me nuts, and after pulling everything off today it was evident that the exhaust leaks were really affecting the overall performance as they were all before the turbo. This has kept me from raising the boost and tuning and my busy work schedule has kept me from tinkering with it much.

I am going to bullet proof the entire setup with high grade studs/nuts, coat every single part, and redo the turbo coolant lines as well. Literally almost every stud provided with the original kit has stretched. All of the lines and fittings provided with this kit have started to rust. I hope that anyone following this refrains from purchasing the kit from OZBoost.

I suspect that the truck will finally be able to make some decent jam after all this is done :)

The manifold from OZBoost is probably the only thing that is a worth a damn. The rest....... not so much.

I am revising every portion of my turbo setup at this stage, after I made this post I went back out and took everything off of the truck entirely. Version 2.0 Should be more interesting:muscleflexing:

Decent starter kit. Got you this far, but left A LOT to be desired. Quick and "easy" though, to fill the boost fiend in yourself. Now to use all of the skills and resouces to finish it to the level of quality you and your fellow boost heads live to. Ready to see the transformation to V2.0 :transformer::muscleflexing:

Curious what your opinion is on the durability of the header itself? As in how much heat from HP do you think it would handle, before showing cracks?

The kit is absolute garbage, if you see from day 1 I was replacing many of the components which simply shouldnt be used on a car, the only thing left from the original kit is the manifold, studs/nuts, downpipe, and coolant lines. The studs have stretched out and the coolant lines are rusting and leaking. Literally everything in the kit is sourced from the cheapest Chinese sources but it does look like the manifold may be made in house, it's thick wall steel and weighs a ton. I am going to sand blast it today and check it for cracks before coating it.

I havent touched my truck in months, so working on it yesterday was refreshing. I really want to see the turbo setup perform how it should. I will post progress pictures along the way

Started working on it this week as I want to get it back on the road this weekend. Re-threaded all of the bolt holes, added new high grade studs studs everywhere (still waiting for the copper locking nuts to show up), new SS gaskets, and coated the hot parts with Techline ceramic barrier coating good to 2000F.

Should be coating the cold parts later this week!

The coating looks really nice. Got a slight gloss to it and versus what you normally see with the black ceramic coating.

Keeping it as such, or you're going to wrap the header as well?

Curious about the outlet of the downpipe. It looks like a smaller diameter than the rest of the downpipe. What's the facilitated need going on there?

It looks to me like he is mating to the stock exhaust.

Not going to wrap the header, but the downpipe mates to the factory exhaust. I don't see a need to upgrade to larger piping on the truck as I wanted to keep it looking and sounding somewhat stock with the hood shut. :)
