That's the plan, seeing if the wife wants to join. The tickets are cheaper for a couple but I need to make sure that if she is unable to make it that I can just pay the difference there.

I'm just doing the weekend pass with camping

I might be interested in some classes but not much vehicle related more so of communication and medical stuff. I applaud people taking the time to learn how to use their vehicle and recovery equipment, too many people out there that just don't quite "get it"

My main goal is to look at anything and everything product wise and camper layouts

Yeah that's what I meant, I won't need to pay somebody to tell me how to wheel. But recovery is always a good class and communication would be a good one.

Might take some time, this one needs to be abused to see if I can break it and try to find some weak spots. I'll likely get started on the long bed plans but I'll wait for production so I'm not building a second one that will have the same issues if any

Thanks man, yeah I plan on hanging out in AZ for a good bit this winter so I can put some dirt miles on the truck.

@G.T. let me borrow a brake controller so I got that all set up last weekend

Placed the order for the transmission cooler and tow plug last night so I can get that done this weekend and maybe test out the brake controller and the plug with the trailer to make sure everything is good to go

Probably get the bumper pulled and hitch out back on since I don't see myself needing the rear bumper and swingout

Just need to order brakes and I'll be good for the trip

I noticed early in your build you had a trasharoo hanging from your tailgate. Did you just wrap the straps around the tailgate or did you mount it to something.

Yup that's all I did. I think I only did it for that trip, it's pretty rough on the tailgate

    Sounds good man

I love the drive away feature of the canopy design. The one problem I see with it is that if you dump the canopy as a base camp, and go wheeling, your spare is still back at camp unless you take it off, and strap it to your deck, which is a whole extra process that might be a bit of a pain to deal with, especially with 35s or 37s. Obviously not a deal breaker, and I can't think of a better way to do it, but just a thought

You could always strap it to the flatbed. Personally, I'm focusing on quick deployment and quick breakdown. Don't want to leave anything at camp. And hopefully do more of the type of camping where you're on the move and not coming back.

With the hard shell RTT and a nice kitchen setup, it should be quick work.

I'm fully in the same boat, and rarely camp in the same spot two nights in a row. I've wanted to build my truck just like that since before I even got it, but just don't have the $$ to do it yet. It was just an observation, as wheeling with your whole house on the back isn't always ideal. I doubt I would take it off very often other than to haul stuff any way, but it's a cool option.

Look at all that extra traction :D;)

Speaking of weight, do you know how much the canopy/tray setup is roughly @ChandlerDOOM ?

You don't still have a spare tire carrier underneath your truck?

Honestly I move to much for that to be an issue, never stay more than a night. If I take it off to wheel I will likely be in a area just for wheeling so not much of a need to carry a spare with me because I can always go back and get it with another vehicle

To me the benefit of a lift off canopy is to take it off at home if you need to haul larger items around town or just don't care to have your whole camp setup with you at all times.

Really the only way around your issue is to keep your spare under the truck and stick to a tire size that will fit under the truck
