It seems like it's the new normal with Toyotas recent lack of quality control

My 2015 was the same. I got it a little better when I put the hitch on, but it's still a little wonky.

Not really finding the motivation to correct it at this point.

If it's not too much pain as the OP says I wouldn't mind scratching the itch. 1 less thing to complain about.

Mine looks like that, but I also stuck it into a bank while wheeling.

Just realigned my end caps. Pain in the butt removing the license plate light holders and bulbs. The end caps are not fully adjustable as OP states. You can only make small adjustments allowable by the play in the frame holes. I was unable to move my left cap in so I moved my right out. There is now about a 11mm space both sides. At least they're even I guess.

    Holy fuck.

I'm at the Toyota dealership right now getting an oil change. I mentioned the bumper alignment issue to advisor but ask him not to work on it today. I did want it noted.

Happen to walk over to the window into the service bays to check on my truck as it should be done by now and see the technician pounding it with a dead blow hammer.

Then I see him walk away and comes back with a 3' pry bar. I get the Advisor to yell at him to stop.

Then they finish my truck and take it into the wash after I said twice not to wash it.

....and people wonder why I change my own oil and do basic maintenance...the hell with free. It will cost you more now to fix that bumper than a gallon of oil.

Any chance there is another dealer close enough to you? Basic requests totally ignored doesn't inspire future confidence. Good grief!

FWIW, I pointed out my misaligned bumper to my salesman upon delivery. He walked me over to the service dept where the service advisor told me that they are not adjustable. Said they'd recently tried to adjust one and it couldn't be done. I'm trying to decide how much it bothers me. Obviously it can be done.

The GM factory reps would come out to the Dealers where unhappy customers would point out these types of imperfections, listen patiently. and with a strait face tell the customer that after measuring there vehicle " These are manufacturers tolerance imperfections" and fall within the Guidelines for this particular Body. same spew if it were a new Corvair or a new Eldorado. Its all good though, American buyers became aware of the higher quality fit and finish in the Japanese imports starting in the seventies. Suddenly the doors fit, you could put a ball bearing in the gap between the body the door on a Corolla and it would role with laser precision, Mass production may have been invented in the US but the Japanese perfected it, or so it seamed. I am afraid it has come full circle. The Toyota guys are more interested in Profit than in the Quality of there Vehicles. .........But that's just me, I spent over 40 years in a GM Dealer service department.

Rear bumper is completely adjustable, it just needs to be properly loosened up, adjusted then torqued to spec.

Ok. Good to know. Before I attempt to align my bumper, can somebody tell me if I need to remove the chrome side caps? Or do I just need to remove the plastic step top to access the adjustment bolts?

I took to the dealer (Marina Del Rey, CA) and the service advisor refuse to fix or even take a further look at it.
I asked for the Service Manager, same thing, he refuse too, he told me to take to a body shop, he said: "For sure you got hit from behind when the truck was parked somewhere."
What a BS! Truck is like that since day one. I even showed him this tread on TW (btw, he never heard about it)
I guess Im going to fix myself to rub on service manager face.

Ps: Pics from my truck on 1st page.

I just noticed my driver side rear cap was out much further than the left yesterday. This would normally bother me on a new truck.
But I'm more worried about the howling, clunking and slipping.

My bed was crooked so I straightened that. Then I noticed the bumper and thought some had bumped in to it. LOL, well I can only see one side at a time anyhowz.
