Anyone able to pitch in here?

I'm sitting at the dealer right now, getting the rear diff fluid changed.

Service tech said according to the mechanics, relating the info from the stamp on the diff, the PRO doesn't need the LSD fluid.

Strange as the Pro has the LSD.

Anyone confirm? I don't know a way to confirm. Manual is in truck on the lift.

    Thanks!

No Tacomas have true, mechanical LSD's anymore. They just simulate their functionality with the ABS.

Your Pro and the TRDOR's have e-lockers, which do not need the additives that clutch-based LSD's require.

No 3rd gen has an LSD from the factory.

I don't know the answer to your question, but if you download the Toyota Owners app you'll have access to all the manuals from your phone anytime.

Or we already told you it doesn't need it.

Also, notes 2-6 are only referring to oil capacity. Not type.

My 06 SR5 4x4 had a LSD. I know because the damn thing needed like 3 bottles of additive to quiet it down.

They don't need it, interestingly enough though when they replaced my differential due to howling they added friction slip modifier.

I can assure you it made zero difference to the new differential howling just as loud.

At how many miles are you having the differential fluid swapped?

I want to keep this truck for as long as I possibly can. I hope to get a bunch of the metal shavings out from break in. I know there is more to come, and in a while I'll change it again. Still haven't had a chance to break front in. Will do same in it.
