I like the idea, anyone with a printer could make that design real quick and print one out

This is a mount i would buy, not for 20 bucks. Its not bulky, doesnt block any of the vents, and its simple.

I wonder how firmly it stays in place....design seems like when you hit a bump it may come out of place on the dash

IF and big IF for a $20 price tag, I did buy this, I would just add a little double sided 3M tape and it wont go anywhere.

Lol. It's gonna take me more time to walk out to my truck and measure than to CAD and Print one up:rofl:
What magnet do you guys prefer. The "wizgear" in OP's post looks too big. I'd prefer a flushmount/recessed little magnet..

Interesting. I'd try one. Curious how stable it is without adding any sort of 3M tape to it...

This dude to the rescue! In what other ways can you contribute to the tacoma world?

Count me in if you make a similar mount.

So I finally found the perfect phone mount (for my Taco anyways)! Requirements included something that would work for many differently sized phones with the case on, but it shouldn't be too ungainly when not being used. The hardest part, it had to be reversible once we eventually sell the truck in a 100 years. Easy, right? :D

First, I tried to do the RAM mount on the vent, but it did not allow for the vent to completely close and it was rather bulky (equated to a definite no-go for the wife).

After looking at fabricating my own franken-creation, I came across this simple magnetic mount, the Mob Armor MobNetic Elite:

Both the bottom and the top are magnetic. You mount a metal plate on the dash with the 3M backing. I mounted mine just to the left of the button for the hazard lights

    _DSC6691s.jpg

It I then routed the USB cable from the cig lighter, up under the radio trim, and then out at where the plate was attached (did require a little bit of trimming the bottom of the trim so the cable to fit).

    _DSC6684s.jpg

Then add the other metal plate to your phone(s) and then mount & angle as required!

    _DSC6687s.jpg

    _DSC6690s.jpg

This could have also fit perfectly on the top/left of the radio trim (just above the vent, to the top/right of the speedo), but we don't like to have it that high.

Hope this helps open up another option for others!

    It's $10 without the magnet kit: https://www.etsy.com/listing/527674...net-kit?ref=landingpage_similar_listing_bot-4

It's probably $0.25 of plastic, but maybe a half hour to an hour to print plus some time. I can see $10 for it if you can add your own magnet. You could always drill through and mount something else more permanent than a magnet too.

@I'mTheDude is right, you'd definitely need VHB tape for it to stay still.

I just got a 3d printer, I'll see if I can mock it up and post up a stl file.
