I was curious as to see which assembly plants maybe had more trucks that had recalls or issues than others. Maybe like a poll of some type with people's input of where and what problems they had/have.

Are you afraid of the Baja plant?

No knock on wood mine came from there and no issues yet. Just wondering if it was a certain production plants issue that most had issues with

Depends on the issue, seems to be more model specific than point of assembly. Hood isue plagues the flat hood models, diff recall plagues non lockers, CPS recall seems to include both.

Then what are you worried about? Spend more time learning about your truck behind the wheel instead of reading about other people's problems on TW.

Spend too much time here and you'll think their problems are now your problems.

Been to both plants for extended periods of time. I only have high praise for both facilities. Heavy Japanese presence in both. Doubt there is any quality difference due to most subassemblies come from same suppliers.

The throttle body could have been put on at engine plant in 'bama.

Generally, in my experience in these facilities - the farther north you are, the better the quality (up to and including Canada - Cambridge Toyota/Lexus in Ontario, Canada has received top awards from JD Power for assembly related defects more times then any other plant that I know of - but I myself have never been in this one or worked with them and can't comment..)

Brampton Ontario is the top delivery plant in FCA

Windsor Ontario is the top quality plant in FCA

Ford's Chicago plant started production in 1924!

There's a reason they retool all the northern plants despite the higher wage. It's culture. Some of these employees are 4th generation autoworkers. They grew up in families who were autoworkers, they've been wrenching cars their whole lives, they're well accustomed to shift work and know how to balance a family while doing it..

The opposite is happening in the south - check bloombergs article on the southern "automotive renaissance". If you can't take care of your EEs properly, you can't build a quality product.

The Tacoma proves automakers need to build their plants in areas that have a skilled and experienced labor force in auto manufacturing.Japan to Fremont CA. to San Antonio TX. to Tijuana MEX.

Since when is San Antonio Texas and Tijuana Mexico known for their highly skilled labor force in auto manufacturing.

Nothing but downhill and it shows..

Actually, JD Power DID award the TMMBC an Initial Quality Standards Gold award.

What proof do you have they're known for bad quality?

My Taco was from Texas. It has had zero problems so far and isn't part of the CPS recall.

My Pro was built in Texas and has the bumper alignment issue. Seems pretty simple to screw up.

This is not a rolls royce, it isn't assembled by hand, there will be flaws.

Shit in, shit out. Doesn't matter who's polishing the TuRD.

Preventing defects - our standard practice is to trust suppliers to provide us with defect-free products. We do not ordinarily inspect the parts and materials that we source

Toyota production methodology is the industry standard for quality control. They hold this over all sites.

It is impossible to have a flawless production line, but if there is an issue it is more likely to be an actual design flaw, or specific part issue, not specific to how one Toyota site in particular is being run.

I will say that as more and more pieces become outsourced, it becomes harder and harder to control the suppliers to the same standards.
