Couple questions before I order Bilstein lift

    A bunch a cool stickers, a bada ass MetalMiller Tx Longhorns grill emblem painted Hemi Orange, JBA long tube headers with o2 sims, Diff breather mod, Red LED interior lights, Fancy head unit that plays ipod n movies, Also DIY install factory stuff like, factory cruise control, factory intermittent wipers, OME nitro struts with 886x springs and toy tec top plate, JBA high caster UCA's for better alignmnet and dey beefier too, Old Man Emu Dakar leaf springs in da rear with the gear, U bolt flipper, Ivan Stewart TRD rims with 33" K Bro 2's, some bad ass weather tech floor liners so I don't muck up my interior, an ATO shackle flipper for mo travel in da rear wit the gear, also super shiny Fox 2.0 shocks back there too, all sorts of steal armor for bouncing off of the rocks like demello sliders, AP front skid, trans skid, n transfer skid, demello gas tank skid, and a tough as nails ARB bumper with warn 8k winch, I'm sure there's more
    For some reason you have taken this way out of proportion. Yes the comparison of the two is more extreme than the other, but the point is that for the extra money, yes, you get a better product. Some folks don't want to spend that and are fine with not having the next best thing.

    But, Crom runs extended 5100's on the rear right? (BE5-B110-T5) I thought those were the extended 5100s... Could be wrong though.

    5100s are the same exact shock as the TRD OR comes with as far as valving goes and nitrogen pressure goes. The only difference is the ability to preload the coil and get a lift out of it. If you got a "drastic improvement" over stock ride, it was completely down to the coil replacement, not the 5100s.

    (shocks for lifted trucks may use different valving settings in order to accommodate the extra weight of larger tires).

    No, 5100s are not an upgrade, performance wise...thought they do allow you to lift the truck....

    But you left out the part before...

    "The Similarities: The 5100 series and the Heavy Duty shocks use the same technology internally. Both use the same internal valving and at stock height will ride the same (shocks for lifted trucks may use different valving settings in order to accommodate the extra weight of larger tires). "

    I'll admit, it seems a contradiction. I know when I called Bilstein several years ago to ask them, they confirmed it's the same shock internally...take that for what you will.

    Yea, I missed that, in your case, the 5100s probably did gave you a significantly more compliant ride than the stiffer Sport shocks.

    So back on topic.
    Your rear options will be weighed by how you're going to use your truck. A single AAL is good for lifting and you'll rarely put any load in the bed. An AAL pack like what @HeadStrong Off-Road offers is good for putting light loads, and sometimes heavier loads, I suggest retaining your overload leaf with it. A full leaf pack like OME HD or AllPro expo is for constant loads in your bed. You can also get OME non HD or All Pro standard pack if you're not loading all the time. That 0-1" rear shock I don't think will be enough. Fox has a great line up for rear shocks at an affordable price that will supercede Bilstein. There are so many combinations for rear lift that I will not ever get close to making them all. Also, I would not only replace the rear brakes with extended lines, but at the same time replace the front as well. You won't need extended in the front with 6112's, but having front and rear stainless braided will give you a noticeably better braking response.

    I would not leave the Factory overload leaf in unless you plan to haul 300 or 400lbs PLUS of armor or gear in the bed regularly. The factory overload left in will really stiffen up the rear end unloaded and the first time you take it down a Washboard road your ass end will be all over the place.
