That last photo looks like it should be a big painted portrait over the fireplace in a hunting cabin.

Yeah, it's a near perfect shot. Only thing that bummed me out was she didn't have her tail up. She was reacting to someone else taking a shot at a bird in another field. She's very photogenic.

Our family had two Labs back in the early 90s, Boz (yellow) and Jake (choc). Boz was cool, smart, and down for tug-a-war. Got him to run the jungle gym at the park across the street from our house like it was an obstacle course with about an hour of training. Jake was a knucklehead.

I had a Chesapeake named Jake. He was a knucklehead, as well.

I'm pretty much the opposite. I've got a large lot and prefer my animals be outside animals.

Rescuing animals is what it's all about. Made this since everyone around these parts has "Salt Life", "River Life", etc. I love rescue dogs. Our boy King was dumped behind my wife's school with his mom and brother. They disappeared, but he stuck around and evaded the pound multiple times. After months of a custodian loving on him and feeding him corn dogs from the cafeteria, he finally trusted her enough to get in her car. She couldn't keep him so we took him and fostered him a whole 2 days before he completely got my heart and he'll always be in our family now. He's the sweetest with a true dogs heart and more character than I've ever seen.

All my dogs were outdoor dogs. Until I got married. The wife said, "When we get a dog, I want him to be at my feet when I sit by the fire to read". That was it. All our dogs now stay inside if we're inside. I said, fine, but they stay off the furniture. Well, they're on the furniture. I said, o.k., just not on the bed. I now sleep with my wife, of course, and a 55 pound GSP and an 80 pound Chesapeake Bay Retriever. Thank God for a California King.

I really put my foot down, didn't I? :angrygirl:

Thanks! My wife and I made it on her vinyl cutter. Actually, all my stickers are. This one is most special though bc of its meaning and I came up with the design completely and it came together exactly how I envisioned. The paw print actually has a dog head silhouette in it if you can see it.

Holy chit, I've done a lot already!!
I have only had 2 dogs in my life. One bred boxer, and one mutt/rescue. I wouldn't trade either, but the mutt has been easier to deal with training. The boxer we got as a pup, he passed at 6 years. Fern, our mutt, will probably out live us. She is healthy and happy as can be. i don't play favorites in life, but she is one great dog. We have to work on other dogs, but Polar (boxer) did not like people. I'll take the dog dislike any day over people. And she is well behaved in the house, NEVER an accident, crate trained, etc. I don't support puppy mills, but I will never knock any one for going purebred. Rof my immediate future, I'll take the rescue :D Obligatory picture, she lives a tough life....

My heeler is a rescue. Most people think they want a heeler until they get one. Their intelligence and drive is demanding but, if you put in the time, they are amazing dogs.

I love seeing everyone's dogs. Thanks for sharing.

I have had rescues, strays, purebreds from reputable breeders, even a purebred from a puppy mill...

I'm all for people giving all dogs a good home... But these days i do prefer to know the exact age, exact breed or the actual mix and percentage... Easier to understand their behavior and be ready for breed specific traits and health concerns.

I will be getting a third dog probably next March... It will be either a bullmastiff or another cane corso. Purebred unless I'm 100% sure the mix is of those 2 breeds lol. I have owned both breeds and they are my favorites... Followed by boxers, ridgebacks, and pits....

I do live in the woods and have a 2 acre yard for my dogs to run and play in. Surrounded by woods and trails to explore!

i'm at a tough point with my pup. Her hips have been acting up lately and we cant walk as far etc... so its hard to exercise her. She is on a bunch of supplements for her hips as well. So, she went to the vet for her yearly appt and updated vaccines. well, come to find out she has gained 10lbs in a year! thats not good for her hips! no wonder she has been having a hard time. i never noticed because i'm around her all the time and 10lbs over a year would be kinda hard to notice. so, the vet says she has to lose at least those 10lbs to keep the extra weight off her hips. I'm looking into the weight control food, but how do you exercise a dog to lose the weight that has made it difficult for her to exercise in the first place? I feel like i'm stuck in a circle...

My wife and I got our first pup together short after we married. Pet store(puppy mill) dog. Since then I have always adopted. I have had both purebreds and mutts. All have had health problems except for my youngest one that I currently have. Some have been adults, most have been young. They have all been great dogs. Older dogs do require training to break bad habits, and to create new good habits. All dogs are great and have unlimited potential regardless of breed.
I have always wanted to train rescue Greyhounds as K-9s. They are probably my favorite breed.
