Nice thinking save ya some money we went with engineered wood she wanted the fancy stuff hand scrapped, French bleed yada Yada she watches hdtv in the same manner we are here on TW.
It was my anniversary gift to her she got what she wanted. I like the wood looking tile also doesn't have that sheen the wood does but I also glued it didn't float it don't like the "give" it has that way.

 

Nice. Be careful with that flooring. Definitely more difficult to replace. Will have wood tile in our new house, wood showed dog hairs too easily.

pixelsailor what neighborhood are you in? I had an internship with a builder out there in fair oaks.

 

Noted first time I've ever had wood floors we don't have any pets currently or kids not to worried currently.

 

Yeah don't get me wrong I love them. It sounds like you may have the opportunity to sand and restain areas when you happen to scratch it which is sometimes easier than to replace a plank which is very uncommon with wood flooring these days.

 

I'm not fancy enough to live in Fair Oaks. I'm in Boerne proper, in a KB Home community.

Ya took me about 40 min to get it just right.

 

I've been trying to convince my dad to let me build one out of his old welding shop but it is pretty dilapidated and the sheet metal is falling off...rolling doors have been broken off for 10+ years so it would be a total tear down and rebuild probably.

 

I think an easy way would be to find a trailer house on land so that you don't have to deal with running water/electric. Just bulldoze the trailer and get to building. My biggest thing would be having enough shop size for a truck lift.
