No, you can't see it at all even when standing outside the truck unless you specifically squat down and look upwards knowing it's there & with the tinted windows it's still difficult to see. It's not like I'm worried about anyone seeing it from outside and then using that new-found-knowledge to decide to break into a truck. Even if someone broke into it I really doubt they'd even notice it as most are checking the nav unit, glove box, center console, etc. I've had people ride with me for a half hour and not notice it until I pointed it out. Even if they broke in and saw it it's not exactly easy to get out of the rack w/o the keys as it's the same brackets & locks that you find in police cruisers so it's pretty solid. I have a pretty decent alarm system that sends me texts & emails instantly as soon as something is triggered too & I'm never far from my truck unless it's at home in the garage where it's also locked up at all times and under surveillance 24/7 anyway with live video feeds on my mobile phone. If someone attempts to break into my truck... they're gonna have a bad day. :infantry:

The most trusted maker of car alarms for decades now is DEI (Directed Electronics) who makes most of the ones you've heard of: Python, Viper, Clifford, etc. so just go with one of those and use an experienced installer and you can't go wrong. I went with one of the ones that offer mobile device connection to where the brain talks to cell phone towers so that I can lock/unlock & start my truck from anywhere I get cell phone service. It also gives multiple layers of notification so that I'm guaranteed to get the fastest notification of some sort of alarm trigger or someone looking to do something dumb. I'm also careful where I park and where I am in relation to my truck. Don't skimp on the alarm system is the best advice I can give.

@Ostrichsak - what system did you go with? The mobile device connection sounds interesting...

This is outstanding, I live in CT so my AR-15 may not be my best bet, but I'd definitely like to mount my 12gauge like this. Fantastic job.
