Not to disappoint fellas but I've been so slammed with work and will be fore the next couple weeks. I'm due for my 6 month service and not sure when I'm gonna have time to get there. But I will def let you all know.

The damn wire is annoying as hell. It's so long. Might have to tie it up til I get there.

You said you took it in for body work right? My guess is that sop, or recent events, made them put a tracker on any and all vehicles going for that kind of service. Maybe they suspected employees for going on joyrides or speeding like lunatics around town? Maybe they just didn't want to lose your car in one of the back lots.

When they got it back, someone who doesn't really know how to take it off was asked to "grab the tracker out of that vehicle" so they went and unplugged the unit, leaving the wiring harness.

That or your wife is tracking you because you've been going to that all guys spa so much.

I was going to guess a dealer-installed aftermarket remote start, but now that people mention it that cored looks like it could be a plug-in GPS cord for the OBD port. Odd that they'd use one that was so bulky, though; they're small enough now that they can just plug into the OBD port without an external wiring required.

I think it's been reasonably established that it's an add-on of some sort going to a part that won't typically be used by you (OBD).

If it were me, and I couldn't make it to the dealer for a while, I'd cut the sucker.

Better to ask for forgiveness than permission.

if the body work was not done by the dealer I would take it to them first to see if it is theirs.

No need to ask for forgiveness on his own Truck. The dealership should ask for forgiveness for putting it their in the first place.

The Truck had 5 miles on it when he picked it up. Who else would have installed the wire?

You're 100% right though. I'd be a little worried somebody would try to pull the ol "out of warranty" trick.
