yeah, game play is a little different, just can't put my finger on it... maybe it's the speed like you say... hard to really say since I'm not used to the weapons ya know? I was hoping for a bit more PVE, as that's my thing, but I'll be thankful come September that I didn't end up playing 1/3 of the game in Beta like D1

I was a little disappointed with the beta this time around as far as content goes. Played the opening mission. Done it so don't want to do it again. Did the strike which I actually liked. But PvP! I love it. This time around it's more about the gunplay and who is better not just who can spam supers faster. I like the heavy weapon design as it works out well I think. I've had a lot of fun in PvP and have yet to go negative so I'm happy about that.

I played since the alpha of D1. I would quit from time to time during the early part of the game since you ran out of things to do so fast. TTK is when D1 started to hit it's stride and has gotten (for the most part) better. From what little I've played of the Beta this time the game:

    1) Looks amazing in 4k
    2) Seems like it plays just slightly slower
    3) PvP is a lot of fun this time around without just spamming supers and grenades constantly. It actually requires you to read the map and be skillful with a weapon to win an engagement. I love the 4v4 format.

I think they are holding a lot of things from us which is fine by me. There isn't much to do this time in the beta like last time but the PvP makes up for it. It's going to be hard to go back to D1 after this.

I know you had to preorder to get the extra time in the beta, but I haven't seen a way to sign up for the open portion of the beta. Anyone know?

I assume they will send you a email with a code if you're a member of bungies site?

I don't recall getting anything from them previously. Signed in the other night to see if anything was on the site itself and everything is about preorder.

I pre ordered so I got my code on my receipt. Bungie emailed me when you could download the beta. I assume if you didn't pre order then you will possibly get a email directing you to bungies site and pick up your code there.

IIRC, the open starts tomorrow or Friday, so hopefully some info will show up elsewhere. Kind of got out of the preorder deal. Want to beta this and CoD:WWII before I spend anything.

My buddy played the alpha for D1 as well. From his perspective, it seemed they had a lot of the game developed up to the Krota section atleast from what he saw. Nothing wrong with being ahead of the process as a dev, but he got the impression that bungie could of offered a lot of their content upon release as the Alpha had it, but when the beta came they scraped a lot of it away which I think gave the false idea that the DLC wasn't developed yet. Im sure they had to finish the final touches on the krota DLC and stuff, but he didn't realize all the old spots in the alpha until the wolves DLC hit and it came back to him.

Being said that, I bet bungie may not want to repeat that perception this time with having decent content and then make people pay for it later on when it could of dropped with the game. Hopefully that is the case, but I will likely not pull the trigger until after D2 has been out a year. Not to be that guy, but D1 made me bitter at the end before TTK.

Yeah I just pre order to see if I want to spend time in the game. After a beta I'll decide then and either buy the game or cancel the order. I rarely DL a game since from that point on you are stuck with it.
The way I feel about Destiny is... I've put up with it since day one. I would quit during the downtimes but always come back. Joined a great group of people that play and we just have fun in the game. Even Though we have completed every challenge we still play mostly because we enjoying playing with / against each other.
I'm DL'ing D2 since I pretty much know that I'm going to play the game with all the people I play with now. There will be downtimes and issues with this game. But if I could put up with D1 almost the entire time I'm pretty sure I can this time around.

Hope you get your code. There isn't nearly as much to do in the beta this time but PvP is still fun.

One thing I did notice last night. NO lag in PvP. Everything was a straight up gunfight. If you got beat you just got beat and vice versa. The ttk is "oh....my.....god.....long......".

Yeah I was too, but I remember playing the Alpha and Beta for D1 and the disappointment I felt when I realized I'd already played through the first 7 missions is still in my mind so I'm ok with just one mission, though I wish it was a bit easier to replay it/maybe had a 2nd.

I played the Alpha as well, and yes I've quit for up to 7 months at one point, I'd moved and just kinda got tired of it with house of wolves. I'd done everything up through house of wolves, all strikes, all raids, all difficulties, but house of wolves really killed it for me because it basically caused my raid team to disband and some never picked up D1 again until Iron Lords, and we still haven't gotten been able to get our schedules to line up to do the newest raids

I agree on all points, though still don't have a 4k TV or a PS4 Pro so can't comment on the 4k portion

I think when it goes open it just means anyone can download and launch the Beta, you shouldn't need codes or anything. Kind of like a free to play game. at least that's my thought on it

YES no fucking lag, and yes the time to kill is incredibly long, even in PVE... I almost feel like I was underpowered in PVE (couldn't 1 shot them in the head with the side arm or the scout), which was annoying, but I'll grow to love because it means the game will be a little more difficult and the ads won't be one shots all the damn time.

I would think so as well, but there's been no info on it other than the dates. Guess I'll keep trolling the xbox store and the bungie site to see what's up.

You could always run to gamestop and drop a pre order and then cancel it if you don't like it.

I'm digging it. It's the small things I like.

When jumping if you're right at the edge of something your character will actually vault themselves up, no more seeing the top of something you're jumping to just to fall back down!

The UI is cleaner and more streamlined.

It looks like you'll be able to change the weapon type on a whim (void, fire, arc, etc.) with removable mods, also looks like you'll be able to use shaders on individual pieces of armor and Weapons!

I miiiiiiiiight have gone out and bought a 75" 4K Samsung tv yesterday after playing about 2 hours of the BETA. Now to buy a PS Pro!

Open BETA begins Friday the 21st, I would assume it goes live at 10am PST/1pm EST like it did yesterday. You will need no code to download, just download the client once it's available on your consoles store. Also from what I've heard the 23rd they're opening access to "the Farm" in the BETA, this is the "new Tower" so to say.

So can you transfer your content from one platform to another?

My friend and I played on the one, and alot of our friends have PS$ now. I have a PS4 but he doesn't so we are debating at which platform. I'd prefer to stay on the One as I am more of a fan of it, but having all my buddies would be nice as well.
