I'm considering bypassing the radiator (capping it off) and running the Mishimoto heavy duty universal transmission fluid cooler with an electric fan on a switch.

Could do an inline filter but i like to have my trans serviced about every 30-35k anyway so i'm not certain i'd enjoy the annoyance of a second filter.

    Link to trans cooler: http://m.autoanything.com/drivetrain-differentials/mishimoto-transmission-oil-coolers

My truck DOES NOT have the factory towing package. But i have a tow package hitch and installed a 4pin wiring harness. My trans fluid temp ranges from 160-200 without a trailer to 190-235 with a trailer. I've never pulled more than 3500lbs with this truck but the trans fluid temp always seems too high.

But i also live in a climate where it can be -20 in the winter and 100 in the summer. So i don't want to over do my cooling capacity in the winter months.

Go to "Real Time Information" on the main screen, the click the settings icon on the bottom left of the Real Time screen. Hit "Add Display" and scroll down until you see the option for Trans Temp

Also works with the OBD Fusion app as well. There is a thread on here that has a custom PID allowing you to get Transmission temps or you can purchase the Toyota PID's in the app for an additional $10. Works as a great tool when doing a fluid change.

Android users out there - $12 Veepeak bluetooth OBD, with the OBD Fusion app and their Toyota Enhanced Diagnostics add-on will pull transmission temps no fuss required.

Hey guys. I'm having trouble getting my Ultragauge to display my trans temp at all. I tried using the codes listed in here, but it still shows error. What am i doing wrong?

I used what you posted last page for the 12-15 pan temp. I tried them too see if it would work for my 11. I guess I'll try the 08 FJ ones.

I didn't have to do any of that.
