Thinking about buying a set of cupped tires. 285 70 17 toyo mt for $400 from a good friend cause she's moving overseas

only 2/4 are cupped but not that bad really hard to notice. my question is will the cupped tires eventually smoothed out if i mount them in the rear first?

    thanks

How good of a friend? I don't know the answer to your question, but I do know you can get a set of decent brand new tires for not much more.

Edit: Just looked up toyo mts, I stand corrected. Good god those are expensive.

shes a good friend, the reason why she's selling them cause she didn't want to buy two new tires haha cause how expensive they are haha, so I'm really asking cause if cupped tires can't be fixed then I'm not going to buy them cause tires are damn there $300

If they're not too bad you could have them trued. That's where they slightly shave off the tread until it's perfectly round.

I had a set that cupped the two front tires. I put them on the back and kept driving. It took about 7 to 8k miles before they were good

Not sure how much. I have a buddy that owns a front end shop and they do it. If one of the bigger shops doesn't do it maybe they could recommend a shop that does.

No. If you feel so bad cut her a check for nothing but I woukd never compromise my safety or those on the road for a nice gesture.

I don't feel bad for her. Cupping comes from improper care of a vehicle. People do that to themselves.

The cupping Ive seen has blown through most of the tread. So this is what I'm invisioning.

They were cupped pretty good. You could tell by just looking at them

This is usually the range you're looking at. Personally, id avoid it, but I get the friend aspect and 400 bucks isn't too bad IF they're relatively new and she just didn't rotate them... ever.
