So From 52 mph to 65 mph or so I get a vibration in the steering wheel only! now sometimes it goes way on a slight turn to the right or left on highway and even if I straighten it out after that slight turn but if I slow down and start to get around that range again it with start to shake/vibrate! Now I had the balance recheck and they said its perfect. I'm wondering if it need a alignment or could it be the hubs or bearings going bad? It would be smooth as silk about 70 or so and below 50mph.
The tires I have are BFG's KO2's 265/70/17 but it did the same thing with the stock tires I recently had. I also replaced 1 of the U-joint last year which caused a vibration and it fixed that issue. Anyone know what gives??

I have the same problem. Just switched to new wheels and tires. Got them aligned and balanced twice.

is it a vibration or s shimmy? Does the wheel move slightly side to side? or does it feel like a vibrating phone?

Mine did this for a while after getting new wheels and tires, balanced em 3 times, rotated them to best tires nearest me, no chopping or anything. Aligned my truck 3 times since, and put bilstein 5100's in the front. And just this morning i realized the wheel shimmy/shake back and forth is gone!

I have the same exact thing OP. Anything after 65ish is smooth. Only started after I got new rims and wheels last summer.

I believe it's a Transmission thing. Nothing to do with wheels or balancing. It happens at a specific speed relative to the gear the car is in at the time of shifting into a lower or higher gear IMO.

Sounds like Wheel Bearings to me.. Transmissions generally don't cause shimmy's in the front end.

I doubt its transmission but leaning towards bearings as if i turn on a slight curve on the highway it sometimes goes away and sometimes when I stay straight after that it will remain smooth. Hit or miss. Almost like a box of chocolates! Never know what your gonna get!

Mine does it too, felt better after an alignment but I've learned to just ignore it for the most part

    A lot
    tag.

just put on FJ steelies and AT/3 265/70/17's getting the same thing. I'm going in this evening for a rebalance to see if it corrects the issue. Is there a quick test for the wheel bearings?

2012 DCSB with just shy of 100k on the odo.

shimmy or side to side movement of the steering wheel points to a tire issue of some kind. A howling type vibration can point to lots of things. Still haven't figured out mine. I think mine is trans related, but the trans shop didn't think so.. And the dealer don't seem to have a clue.

Got my wheels balanced again on the way home.

They were off since install on Saturday. The goober who did them then got yelled at - don't think he used the right wheel adapter.

Will see what the interstate holds tomorrow. Wish me luck

Yep, lift the front (or rear) of your truck off the ground and see if you can tilt the tire any.

If you need wheel bearings... @BamaToy1997 hooked me up. They're great.
