    I know all the forest service/logging roads up highway 20 on the south side of the river are all gated. Sucks because those go really far back

    I've taken one main FS road from Whitehorse off hwy 530 all the way up to hwy 20 in Concrete but it was a well traveled road. Where I am looking at going is all well North of there though, kind of NW of Mt. Baker.

    Ok, I've got some social juice flowing; I know there's a platoon of us here who have or are currently serving this fine country of ours, but what exactly do you do? I've had a random click/comrade moment with @AWilson013 since we realized we spent time at the same basic together, not to mention visited the same sleazy E3 mail order bride/spend your whole leave money on visual stimulation experience, Pvt hopper selection just outside base.

    Any high speed low drag mawfukas need reply along with any Fort Leonard Wood graduates. All you other service/men/women speak up, I like to hear other views between corps. We army guys during my era usually made fun of other branches that related to their PT routines. Aka: airforce pushups and the Navy/National guard always picked up our recycle/joker's that couldn't don a pro mask in under 40seconds, or just all around fatty cakes for misc/below deck hands. Our battle cry was 'Smokers hide the way" along with "Engineers build the way, while mp's bring the rear with the gear"...... Nothing like a little arrogance/motivation among casual battle buddies. :oldglory: we all serve a purpose and even tho I may sit back and decon your ass, while in mopp 4, I'll stick it out in a fox hole with anyone whole can uphold the core values. And also know your way around an M16. Know how to configure your battle rattle and achieve sharpshooter or better marksmanship. leniency will be issued for qualified m249/SAW proven operators. Tactical over tacticool is a no brainier.

    Is it wrong/weird to have a playlist of cadence set on my music selection?

    Also no discrimination on other branches of service, I just had a stint in the army reserve status.

    :confused::confused::drunk::drunk::cool: :drunk:

    I wanted to serve my home, rather than my country. I did 3 years for a fire department. Good times.

    It's a tough crowd. I've seen a few friends score high on the asvab only to fail the physical. I was somewhat indoctrinated by the recruiter on what not to say when talking to the screening dr. I had quite a bit of weight on my shoulders hinging on my enlistment.

    wanted to join since I was a mil brat. but im deaf in my right ear so couldn't pass the hearing even with waiver and all. I did MEPs twice to see if I can cheat my way through the hearing but no go. but I work for the army so the closest thing I guess.

    I'm currently active duty enlisted with a little over 5 years in now but will be calling it quits here in January. On to bigger and better things.

    I went to basic at Ft Benning which at that time was shortly after more MOS's (still all males) went through instead of just the infantry. I believe now it's coed.

    I'm a Signal/Commo guy so of course we get shit from the other more "high speed" units and MOS's out there. We just like to say "You can talk about us but can't talk without us" or "No comms no bombs" (which right now is 100% true so I'm pretty proud of that) I'm currently deployed with a joint echelon and there's still that same shit talking to the other branches, and those who are reserve/ nasty girls vs active duty plus the contractors. But at the end of the day, you still chose to sign on the dotted line and defend your country, even if it's just on the weekends :rofl: :stirthepot:
    I wish I found this little gig I have right now because it's more along the lines of everyone has a specific job to do, do that and you won't have any issues. It's much more relaxed, there's no uniform, no rank, no barking orders because I'm the boss and you're under me kind of thing... Everyone is here to complete the mission. It truly is "one team one fight"

    I'll occasionally catch myself watching YouTube videos of different cadences. My unit there at JBLM rarely sings cadence anymore. I learned a different variation of the classic "C-130 rolling down the strip" changed it to "..stand up, hook up, shuffle to the door... sit back down you're in the signal core" Haha.

    You're 100% right as to all of us serving a purpose. I too have no problem sticking it out in a fox hole if it ever came down to it. Leadership is something I value quite well and do my best to pass along the knowledge I've learned down to my troops. I've always tried to be that model soldier maintaining a high PT score, expert marksmanship, etc so it's hard for me to understand why there's so many of those that still struggle. The unfortunate side of having poor leadership (especially the higher your leaders go) it causes good soldiers and other good leaders not want to stay in and deal with it. It's shitty.. but it's happening. I'm a lead from the front and by example kind of guy. It kills me to see those who just give orders and sit around. @Skootter14 and I had a long chat about this on our way to Crystal one day and know he feels the same.

    :cheers: :drunk:Cheers to those past present and future who defend this great nation. And those on the home front as well (Police, fire, EMT, etc) You have no easy job either.

    'murica! :oldglory::oldglory::oldglory::oldglory:

    Lost in the Woods? Sheeeit. I just realized it's been 10 years since I graduated Sapper Leader Course there...dammit I'm old now. I was a 12B in an airborne unit, so yeah we pretty much made fun of everybody else. Definitely couldn't do what we did without all the support units though, and especially appreciate our bus drivers (C-17/130 pilots).

    I was just talking with another forum member the other day is also deployed in Iraq - I had no idea we still had troops there. When are we finally going to write that one off and get everyone out of there?

    Yeah the marching cadence thing is weird haha, I did like making up new running cadences though.

    Cheers fellow service-people! :cheers:

    Yes...? Do you think the hood scoop idea is better than a properly covered fender intake?

    I'd say you have a higher chance of sucking water through the fender in water over your tires. The down side to a hood scoop would be the initial entry to a water hole, from a wave.

    Is Fortune creek trail/Gallagher doable by yourself? I'd like to take the wife/kid out to the lake without going with a convoy.
