So will you be offering your products for sale at the Bedford Blues & BBQ Festival this year?

Have you seen us there before?!?!?!

I'll be checking with the event coordinator to see exactly what we're allowed to do, but at the very least, we'll be low key selling it ;).

Stop by and have a beer with us if you go out there.

    FWIW,

I used some of the regular rub to sous vide some chicken breasts. I noticed the spiciness wasn't there like if you would smoke, grill, or even bake it. I was getting way more sugar out of it than before. Good? Bad? All down to preference, I suppose. I would try this again, but then do a quick coating of rub right after before finishing on a grill to see how it worked out.

That's a big one. Need to win a couple smaller competitions to get an invite. I'd like to try to weasel in to the Pasadena Strawberry Festival BBQ competition. I usually go down there and play mud volleyball then hang in the tent of another BBQ team. Lots of fun and a big event. The team we hang with has about 15-20 people on it (including the folks helping with smaller tasks). The three of us might be able to hang, though ;).

Interesting. Never tried it on sous vide. I'm sure the effects are quite different, especially if not much time is spent searing. You're right that most cook methods burns some of it off. Keep me updated on any other techniques you try!

Sous vide was an accident. Completely used the wrong jar of rub. So I said, fuck it, and rolled with it. It's still good :)

SO...Going to go business tech on you here.

My fiancee started up a NPO and I've been looking at various website hosting, project, and accounting stuff. I've started messing with something called Odoo. It's free for one app.

If you think you want to brave the task of DIY and cutting costs, this may be a route you can take.

I make really good rub, brisket, and Excel spreadsheets.

When it comes to building an e-commerce site, however, my hubris, like many DIYers, outpaces my ability. With that, I'm open to any and all suggestions for something I can manage and is seamless for you all on the front end.

    I appreciate the info.

Just grab some beer and start coding. What's the worst that can happen?

I left a rogue ".ClearContents" in a line of VBA one time. Not quite Kim Jong-Un mushroom-cloud-in-the-sunglasses bad, but it sure wasn't good.

I know we have talked about Kozzies and stickers to help add a few bucks to your rub profits... not that they really need it. But Patches are all the rave right now. Maybe one of the guys doing them could help you figure out if you could make any money off it, ever dollar helps when you are starting off.
