3rd Gen windshield fit 2nd Gen Tacoma?

    The third gen windshield has a go pro mount that I would like to use to mount a dash cam. I will need to replace the windshield soon. Thanks in advance.

    Not gonna work. Different glass dimensions as well as the reveal moldings along the top and sides are different than the 2nd gen. (I'm an auto glass tech, FWIW). Also, the GoPro mount is found only on OEM windshields. I've yet to see an aftermarket one with the mount. I'd stick with previous ideas of some 3m double sided tape. Just clean and prep the area first and it'll hold like a champ.

    Just buy a fucking go pro mount. Why do you have to buy a whole new windshield?

    ^especially when OEM will run you $500-600 before moldings and installation.

    I doubt the super double edge 3m for the go pro will hold as much as the OEM.
    Did anyone ever tried?

    I stuck the go pro sticky mount to my windshield just like the 3rd gen. I have it a good tug and it stayed in place. I also had one on my track bike. Never lost it.

    Hell, I'll pull the mount that came on my 3rd gen and sell it to you for 200$. You'll save hundreds on a new windshield. Lol.

    I used one of the sticky mounts that came with my GoPro and stuck it right below the black dotted area behind the rear view mirror. Been there for 2 years with no issues.

    1) most double-sided tapes that are used by auto manufacturers are made by 3M. They're the worldwide leader in adhesive tapes.

    2) Take a gander at what 3M VHB 5952 tape is capable of: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0PsrwbIC2Uo

    3) If you're still paranoid a <6oz GoPro will fall from your windshield with 3M tape, use their adhesive promoter 4298

    You could probably take a piece of the windshield with it. Like I said before I had one stuck to the nose and tail of my track bike. Speeds in excess of 150mph and the camera was fine.

    I agree. make sure its the grey rubbery tape with the red peel off and not the white foamy tape with the green/white peel off. I put my radar detector up about 5 yrs ago, still good to go. i have used it to mount tons of stuff at work like hand soap dispensers and all kinds of crap, just use an alcohol wipe before you stick it down and it will never come off until you put a razor to it.

    Dude... the black VHB is even gnarlyier .... i have had to take long screwdrivers and use em as prybars to pull shit off stuck on with that. I use VHB on everything. haha
