If i remember correctly from my inspection, the inspector said that it should be around 20 degree hotter, if its 40 degrees then you do not have proper ventilation. that was for a house that we ended up not buying. but it was like 68 outside and 107 in the attic....ridiculous to image how hot it would be if it was 98 outside is it commonly gets to down here

Just made another trip to the Home Depot and got a gable fan and mounted it up but the framing in front of the gable vent doesn't allow me to mount it flush so i am going to have to figure out a way to seal the perimeter to allow it to force the air through the gable vent unless that's a bad idea at which point i will just leave it like it is. I also got an exhaust fan for the ceiling in the garage that i need to install so i can help remove that hot air that is trapped in the high part of the garage. when i woke up this morning the attic was 75F and the garage was still 82F and the thermostat in the garage is mounted at 6'. Its 112F in the attic now and i am gonna go and wire up the gable fan in a few minutes and see what kind of a difference it makes in terms of cooling the attic off.

I was going to do the same thing in my old garage before we moved.

I assume you mounted it to vertical studs on either side of a rectangular gable vent.

My plan was to get a piece of thin plywood or thick masonite, lay the fan shroud on that to scribe the circumference, cut that with a jigsaw.

Then, insert a couple 2x4 crossmembers between the studs, like fireblocks, as close as possible to the edges of the gable vent/fan shroud circumference to enclose the venting cavity space and provide additional structure for attaching the Masonite. Cut the Masonite to fit over those, nail it on, the reattached the fan over that, going through to the studs.

Oh. Well. That's fucked. All that framing would need to be reworked to make the fan even semi-effective. I could still be fairly simple, except for the doing all the work in the attic aspect of it.

Run horizontal 2x4s above and below the metal fan shroud at the maximum extent of the little mounting brackets (rotated as high and low as possible). Eliminate the existing horizontal and vertical framing. You may need to check structural loading around there because it is both exterior wall and roof load, but double any new framing similar to any traditional basic framing for an exterior penetration (window, etc.) would likely be the need. @OZ-T

Hell, with all that going on and the size of that opening, I'd even consider a second fan side by side for a dual setup. You could then leave the vertical in place, and just modify the horizontals, and shroud all that in, again with masonite flush mounting to framing the holes cut out to match the metal shrouds or the fans. Leaving the vertical would provide you with the structure for attaching both fans at the middle.

Lol! That is exactly what I thought as soon as I saw the picture. you have so much lumber in front of the fan it doesn't seem like it will do much.

Ideally you'd like to seal the area around the fan. I used plywood and cut a circle to fit the fan, then used a rubber garage door gasket between the fan mounts and the house to isolate the vibrations somewhat. You've got a bit more work to do, unfortunately.

Well i have it wired up and simi sealed up until i can get back to the hardware store to get some 2x4 and plywood to build a boxed frame for it so that its more effective. The temperature was slowly creeping up and when i got the fan turned on the temperature was at 120F and hit 121F a few minutes later but has been holding steady at 121F for over an hour now.

Well it must be doing something because after several hours of running the temperature just dropped by a degree to 120F even though the temperature outside has gone up by a few degrees and is currently 97F outside right now.
